Do you like a bit of bling on your wedding day? This Chinese bride clearly does. Images of her extravagant wedding day attire have gone viral on social media with users calling her displays of wealth excessive.
The images were posted online by Chinese television host Bob Lam, who was hired to host the wedding. The celebrity stands next to the new bride in the first shot, who is covered (literally covered) in sparkling gold necklaces.
Other images include the bride’s dowry – the traditional gifts or cash given at Chinese weddings. Hers included large wads of cash, alongside multiple gold bracelets in their cases. Southern Metropolis Daily reported the loot as being worth several million Yuan.
Chinese equivalent of Facebook, Weibo, has gone into overdrive, with users conveying their thoughts on the proud display of wealth.
“Is this a wedding or Qin Shi Huang’s funeral?” Qin Shi Huang being an emperor of China from 221 BC.
Another Weibo user remarked: “This wedding was put on as an outward show (of wealth).”
Whether the wedding day bling was excessive or not, It’s a thought whether the bride developed back problems after lugging around those hunks of gold all day.
