Weddings were (sadly) few and far between in 2020 due to the global pandemic that took hold of many countries and continues to complicate events in areas where local transmission is high. So we thought it’d be best to celebrate the beautiful weddings from celebrities that we loved to see this year. Here are our fave celebrity weddings of 2020:
Lily Allen + David Harbour
Who didn’t gush over this Las Vegas wedding back in September? The UK pop star wed the Stranger Things star in a little Elvis chapel and followed the nuptials with a feast of In-N-Out burgers. How perfect is her stunning dress!?
Elizabeth Gillies + Michael Corcoran
Elizabeth Gillies, one of our favourite Dynasty stars and singer, said that postponing her wedding was not even a question when COVID-19 hit. “It was a no-brainer for us. Aside from the obvious travel and crowd restrictions, it didn’t feel right to be celebrating in such a big way when there was so much going on in the world. It would have been in poor taste to burden people by asking them to risk their lives to come to our wedding. There were more important things to focus on. Our wedding could wait.”
The couple shared an intimate wedding of just 10 guests, and each guest was tested and quarantined for two weeks prior to the intimate wedding.
The bride opted for a classic gown from Britt Wood Designs, paired with a beautiful Oscar de la Renta veil.
“At the end of the day, it’s about you and the person you love. The rest doesn’t matter.”
Niecy Nash + Jessica Betts
These two lovebirds got married at an intimate celebration of 24 on August 29th at their home in California. The event included custom face masks, embroidered with the message #LoveWins. The pair were reportedly friends for years prior to tying the knot. So beautiful!
Princess Beatrice + Edo Mapelli Mozzi
Right in the thick of a global pandemic, Princess Beatrice stunned when she wed her partner Edo in a private ceremony. In a statement, the palace said: “The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17 July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. The small ceremony was attended by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant government guidelines.”
The princess wore a divine vintage Norman Hartnell gown originally worn by Queen Liz herself!
Bindi Irwin + Chandler Powell
Our very own golden girl Bindi wed her partner Chandler Powell in a beautiful and intimate ceremony that was fast-tracked due to inclement restrictions on March 25th 2020. On her Instagram, Bindi said: “Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history. Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. ”
