Postcards presenter Brodie Harper met her husband, Heath Meldrum, after they saw each other across a crowded room, literally.
The gorgeous couple, who have been married nearly three years, met after they caught each other’s gazes at a restaurant. They’ve been together since. Brodie shares her story below.
1) When were you married?
November 29th, 2008.
2) How did you meet your partner?
I was out for dinner with a friend one night when a handsome man caught my eye across the restaurant. Throughout the night we continued to glance over at each other, when it came time for me to leave I gave him one last smile and Heath then chased me down the street to introduce himself and we exchanged phone numbers. The rest is history.
3) How did he propose?
Heath proposed to me in Thailand. He organised a day for the two of us at a beautiful day spa. We later went up to the hotel room to get ready for dinner and when I walked inside the balcony had been decorated with hundreds of flowers, plam trees, fairy lights and pink silk. There was a table for two set up with a seafood dinner and bottle of French champagne. Once we finished the incredible dinner, Heath got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so beautiful it’s hard to put into words.
4) What about the reception?
We were married on the grounds of Willow Creek vineyard in Victoria in the rose garden with our close family and friends. The reception was held at Salix restaurant, where we enjoyed a three- course French inspired dinner with an amazing acoustic singer. We danced the night away. It was the most amazing and memorable day of my life, and I was so fortunate to enjoy it with my wonderful family and friends.
5) What dress did you wear?
I always dreamed of a traditional style wedding dress and I was lucky enough to find one. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. My wedding dress is a vintage style with a beaded bodice with vintage broach and train at the back. I also had a traditional veil to finish off the perfect look.
6) Where did you honeymoon?
We had the most amazing honeymoon in Thailand, Penang; where we stayed at the Shangri-la. It was perfect in every way; we relaxed, spent time by the pool, enjoyed each other’s time and made sure we spent a lot of time at the day spa. I can’t wait to go back there again soon.
7) What is your best piece of wedding advice?
The best piece of advice I can offer is to just enjoy your wedding day, don’t stress the small stuff because it doesn’t matter…
