Tania Roddy from Perfect Day Bridal in Sydney shares her top three tips for how to choose your bridesmaid dresses.
Don’t let your bridal party walk all over you
“This sometimes happens especially if the bride has a big bridal party, like maybe four girls in different shapes and sizes and age groups,” says Tania, whose wedding store specialises in wedding dresses and bridesmaids’ gowns.
“Sometimes she’ll just take a step back and say, ‘I don’t care what we do.’ Then she’ll open it up too much to the others and all the girls will have their say. It can get really hard!”

Take it easy…
“Find one or two days where you can get all your girls together and make appointments at three key stores,” advises Tania. “Don’t go all day as it will get exhausting and confusing.
“You could start where you got your bridal gown, because you’ve already built a rapport there.”
Then the girls can try on different styles and colours and, if you can, you could maybe even hop back into your dress and see what the whole party looks like together. It can be a lovely experience.
Consider choosing different styles to suit different shapes
“Think outside the box,” says Tania.
There are now gowns on the market that can turn into a strapless or one-strap or halterneck. Each individual bridesmaid could have something a bit different in their gown to personalise their dress a bit more.
