Bali’s pretty easy to get to from Australia, with direct flights running regularly from SYD, MEL, PER, BNE, and ADL. Most flights are between six to eight hours.
The best thing, though, is that Bali is easy for your guests to get to while still having that sense of being in another world entirely.

Getting married in Bali is doable, but most Aussie couples choose to do the legal work at home instead. Why? The process for getting married in Indonesia involves travelling with original documents, getting documents translated into Indonesian, and arriving at least ten days before your wedding.
It’s very common for couples having a destination wedding to have their legal ceremony at home. Whether they tell guests (or even family) they’ve done so is entirely at their discretion.
We walk you through all the details in our Guide to Getting Married in Indonesia.
In an ideal world, you’d have a window of 10-18 months to plan your wedding in Bali, but we’ve been known to get together an all-star team and wedding package in less time. If you’re on the typical track, though, here’s a simplified timeline for planning your destination wedding.
10-18 Months to go. Book your destination wedding package with your Easy Weddings specialist, including your venue, accommodation, celebrant, photographer, and entertainment. Shop for your wedding attire.
12 Months to go. Send your save-the-dates via mail or email, providing a notecard or wedding website with information on accommodation and travel arrangements. Choose and order your bridal attire (ordered gowns usually require about a year’s notice).
8-10 Months to go. Confirm your flights to Bali and arrange your honeymoon accommodation. Finalize all flowers for the ceremony and reception. Confirm your hair and makeup artist for the wedding day.
5-8 Months to go. Chat with your Easy Weddings consultant to answer all of your questions and assist you with planning all the finer details of your wedding. Order your wedding cake if it is different from the package. Finalize the decor and furniture for the event. Finalize the outfits for your wedding party.
2-3 Months to go. Arrange bomboniere or welcome bags with special Balinese goodies for your guests. Send out your wedding invitations.
2-4 Weeks to go. Easy Weddings sends your wedding day run sheet with timings and supplier contact info. Together, we’ll meet with your venue event manager to discuss the details of your wedding festivities.
