About

Husband and wife team Troy and Trudi started Rockworld Productions shortly after their own wedding day. Troy had a filming background and Trudi had an editing background and so they were able to mesh their skills. Over time they have developed and refined their skills and love telling an emotive story that reflects your personality. They have since added 2 kids and 2 part time staff members to their team (not the kids). This allows us to offer drone coverage and multiple camera operators.

Why should I get a videographer if I'm already having a photographer?

I'm on the fence about videography and need that extra push. Can you tell me why I should have both a photographer and a videographer at my wedding?

Rockworld Productions

Your photographer and videographer will capture many different things. Your photographer can capture that perfect frozen moment in time, perfect for your album, picture frames and to share with friends. With a video you get to see 1000 things you missed - your friends smile as you walk down the isle, your husbands first glance, the interactions of your bridal party at the photo shoot, and most importantly your vows and speeches. Captured so you can play them back for years to come. Ask any bride and they will tell you their wedding day flew by so fast. A video allows you to relive the day, and I don't know of a bride who hasn't watched hers over and again. We have had some brides who have watched it 20 times in the first week - what awesome feedback for the emotion and memories it brings back for them.

How much does wedding videography normally cost?

My fiance and I are getting married in Melbourne and are looking at having a videographer as well as a photograher. We were hoping to spend around $2000-$3000 but all of the nice ones I have seen want around $5000!

Rockworld Productions

The answer will depend on the style you like. A cinematic video that requires multiple cameras will cost more than a documentary style edit as it takes more time to capture and edit. There should be a range of videographers from $1000-10,000. If you like a particular style then you may need to be prepared to pay more to get it, depending on the work involved. Ask around, there are sure to be some in your budget.

How long should it typically take for a videographer to return the final product?

My sister got married two years ago, and it took almost 6 months for her videographer to return the video of her wedding. I want a videographer at my wedding, but I'm scared it'll take the same amount of time to come back. Is 6 months normal to wait for your wedding video?

Rockworld Productions

Hi Louisa, Every videographer is different and the time to get your wedding video can depend on how busy they are. I know some that take over a year. Discuss it with your videographer prior to booking, so you know and ask for it to be included in your contract. Our contract states you will have your video within 8 weeks of your wedding, usually it is about 6 weeks. Based on chats with other videographers in forums 3 months seems fairly typical.
