When you hire a Videographer to capture your special day, you are paying for two things, The Videographer to attend your wedding and capture the event and the editing that takes place after the event. 

We collect Raw footage, which is lots of video clips during the day, usually hours worth. Think of these as uncut jigsaw pieces.

The editor then takes the Raw footage and puts it together to create the videos you receive. This process is like taking those uncut jigsaw pieces, cutting them and putting them together to create a beautiful image.

So when hiring a videographer, you are getting two pieces of information with your quote:

• How long will the Videographer be at the wedding (The more time we spend, the more moments we are able to capture)
• And what videos will be edited together with this footage and given to you at the end.

I do not, and the reason for this is that the footage is not usable by non professionals.

I film in a Log format (Canon Log 3) which compresses the colour and saturation down to give us more flexibility in the editing stage. It means we have more room when shooting on the day before we over or under expose our shots, and it gives us a lot of space to play with colour when colour grading.

The footage itself looks washed out, and is not fit to be shared (Google 'what does ungraded footage look like?' to see examples of this). 

If there are specific moments you want to ensure are captured and delivered, talk to us. I want you to have all the moments you want from the day, and if there is a moment that we miss in the editing stage, we will make sure we add it in.

It's up to you! A professional Photographer should be willing to work alongside any Videographer (and vice versa). You should choose the Videographer that you like the style of that also fits your budget. Some companies provide a package to include both a Videographer and Photographer, but don't feel obligated to hire both. The wedding is your day, hire the people you want to capture it for you.

It is up to you. Photographers are generally seen as a 'must have' vendor for weddings, but videography can be optional. Consider if you would like to rewatch the day, or to show it to your future family, or share it with friends and family that are unable to attend.

Videographers and content creators provide a very different service, however with them both shooting video, there has been some confusion around their purposes.

Content creators will film short clips on their phones and send them to you, think of them as a dedicated family member who will be running around with their phone all day creating content that you can post on social media the following day.

Videographers capture the day on higher quality cameras and create an edited video for you which can take a little longer to receive, but it is much higher quality.

Can you hire both? Yes! I generally recommend a content creator for someone who has a social media following and wants to share the magical day to their stories as it happens.
