Do you have any tips on how to choose the right sized venue for this number of guests?

This is one of the simplest issues...you ask the venue coordinator! Just check that the venue can adequately hold 100 people and still have plenty of room for dancing!
Our Venue holds 100 guests then add on your dance floor
Select a venue that offeres flexible seating options, which allow you to still have the additional area that you would like.
For example: a separate dancefloor and standing canape area to your seated dining area, if this is what you would like.
Ask to see photos of the venue with similar guest size that you will be having. Ask to see altrnate floor plan options, and rather than making up your mind on set idea, ask staff 'how would you design my floorplan?'.
Be opened minded.
What a great idea would be is to ask the venue if they may be able to set up a mock floor plan for you to come in and see, this way you can get an idea of the space yourself. Let Mercure Canberra know if you would like to organise a site inspection.
Thanks,

There really is no right or wrong here as tiny rooms can feel much larger with lots of windows and huge rooms can feel tiny with out any -
It really comes down to the runsheet and style of reception(cocktail or plated)and if you aniticpate having lots of formatlities speeches etc you need to keep everyone together , if you are having only Canapes and grazing stations people will roam and it may not feel cramped and lastly spring summer your guests will want toenjoy the outdoors so perhaps factoring in outside lawn games will reduce teh number of guests inside simultaneously
Make sure the venue can hold up 100 guest or more with out the dance floor being to close to your guest tables.

It is best to visit the venue when they have the area setup for 100 or more guests.
This will give you an idea of how much room guests have to move around, how much room you will have for other things (Dance Floor, DJ, Photobooth etc) and how you feel with the venue setup.

Ask a question
Try not to overwhelm yourself by visiting too many venues. Choose your top five or six and go from there. Seeing too many venues will just cause your brain to have an “information overload" and leave you more confused than when you started out. It's important to choose a venue that suits you taste and matches the style or theme of your vision.
There are going to be pros and cons with any venue you find so work out your top five most important aspects and go with the venue that suits these best. The venue should evoke some sort of emotional connection and get you excited about the wedding day. It also helps to choose a venue with a long standing reputation for high quality service and great staff.
And finally, if in doubt, ask! Dont assume or leave anything to chance. If you have any concerns, address them during the site inspection or as soon as possible before confirming your booking with a deposit.
