The team at high church made our day so perfect and easy. The food was fantastic, the decor and the set up of our wedding was perfect and we felt so comfortable at the venue and can't thank the team enough!

High church was a beautiful venue and literally a one-stop shop for us. Initially I wanted to do more DIY for my wedding and pick my own vendors/suppliers but with a one year old, that made it pretty impossible. High church held our wedding ceremony, canapés and reception. The in-house caterers plated really delicious food, the in-house stylist made the welcome board, menu and name plates, and in-house florist provided the floral decor. Everything looked so beautiful and the service was spectacular. We received compliments from our guests about both the venue and staff there. Shane was very helpful both leading up to the day in our email exchanges and also on the day. :)

Amazing team at high church! We had to change plans due to covid and they were so helpful and kind the whole time. We couldn’t have done it without the team and can’t wait to be back for the celebration.

We were so incredibly fortunate to have found The High Church. We were originally due to be married in a park however two weeks out from our wedding COVID restrictions saw a maximum of 10 people allowed to gather in public areas. I reached out to The High Church to see if they had any availabilities thinking that we had run out of luck however, Andrew advised that they were free. Andrew was wonderful to work with, he was professional, friendly and he knew exactly what needed to happen and when. He was so organised and I was so impressed in what he was able to put together in such a short amount of time. Along with this, the event space was absolutely stunning and incredibly unique. We are so grateful to have found Andrew and The High Church and would recommend them to anyone looking at holding their ceremony.

I'm considering a midweek or friday/sunday wedding... Should I?

Please help! Is it worth the savings to have a day other than saturday?

High Church

Weekday weddings are the perfect way to cut costs and keep it VIP. If you are looking for an intimate wedding, we find that the important ones will prioritise it with their day to day schedule ensuring that you are surrounded by your favourite people. It also is obviously substantially cheaper to book a venue/catering services during the week. As well as that, it gives you quite a bit of wiggle room with your date. With our crazy period starting Friday through to Sunday, it gives you a wider variety of mid week dates to chose from.

Do we need to have an Engagement Party??

We have been engaged for over a year now and everyone that we would invite to the engagement party already know we are engaged, so is there any point in holding one??

High Church

If you're not looking to do an engagement party, there is no rule book that says you absolutely have to! If you think of wedding showers, hens/bucks nights, dress fittings, cake tasting etc - they are parties within themselves! You could use them as chances to celebrate. There's no need to place a strain on your wedding budget if you don't want to. We find the planning of the wedding is a celebration.

In saying that, if you have a little left over cash in your budget and decided you do want to throw something, remember that you aren't obliged to invite your entire guest list. It's always nice to have a small get together for under 25 people at home or even a restaurant (Brisbane folk, Delfina's Bistro is great - hint hint) and make it an intimate and small celebration for your friends and family.

How bad are Sunday night weddings?

I'm planning a Sunday night wedding, but am concerned about guests who may need to work the next day. How are Sunday night weddings usually run? Unfortunately a brunch/lunch wedding doesn't really work for our venue.

High Church

There's no such thing as a bad wedding! In saying that, 'Sunday Sessions' is a popular trend in the hospitality industry. Starting around lunch or the late afternoon, it gives your guests the oppurtunity to enjoy themselves but also having the back up of being able to be home at a reasonable hour for work the next day (If they couldn't get the day off)

Costs wise: It's cheaper venue wise to hold it on this day. On the other hand, the hospitality award wage can sting you as the venue/staffing agency will have to pass on the higher rate per staff member.

Sunday is a relaxed, intimate vibe for a wedding. It's all about how you want it to feel for your guests!
