What should I consider when looking for my wedding venue?
I'm about to start looking for my wedding venue. What are some things that I need to consider when searching for the perfect venue?
Montsalvat
When choosing a venue, consider your needs, your guests' needs and your overall vision. Ask plenty of questions and think about what you want for your big day! Basics such as heating / cooling, proximity to public transport, parking and AV should also be considered, to save you hassle or additional expenses.
How far in advance should I book my wedding venue?
I don't want to miss out on my dream venue. So, how far in advance should I make the booking?
Montsalvat
Ideally, you should book your venue 12 – 18 months out from your wedding date, to ensure your preferred date is available and allow yourself plenty of time for planning! If you're a last minute bride, you may be able to get specials or discounts if a venue has an available date with little lead time. Remember, most venues have recommended or preferred suppliers, which may save you time and hassle, too!

Choose a venue that is neither too small, nor too large. If your dream venue is a large space, is there a way to make it appear smaller? This will help you to create a close-knit, intimate feel and allow your guests to see and experience all the action! If your venue is too small, you run the risk of cramping, bad service and no wiggle room if your numbers increase. If your venue is too small, but your dream venue, consider a cocktail style reception instead.
