Is a one hour time gap between ceremony and canapes ok?

We are looking to have our ceremony at 3pm, and then canapes to start at 5pm, this means there will be a one hour gap from 4pm-5pm. Looking to have both the ceremony and reception at the same venue. Is it acceptable? To entertain guests, there will be a photobooth along with a few platters of snacks, and a bar tab on soft drinks and coffee/tea. Alcohol will be available at 5pm once canapes start. Or if they prefer, they can explore the venue gardens and take some photos.

Margan Winery and Restaurant

Hi there,

My recommendation to you would to have your ceremony at 4pm. If you plan on having both ceremony and reception in the one place the hour gap can often create an awkwardness for your guests especcialy if the venue is remote and away from any pubs, clubs or accommodation.

As you know, from attending weddings yourself I am sure, people do enjoy going to have a drink between ceremony and reception. Having the photobooth, snacks and soft drinks available is ideal. However I feel your money could be better spent on other things if you just delayed your ceremony start time by that hour.

I hope that makes sense and helps with your wedding planning.
