I noticed in your photos there is someone with a dog. Can I bring my dog along?

Yes well trained animals are welcome provided they are on a leash and someone is committed to looking after them for you while you are saying your 'I do's'.

OVERVIEW

Sue Jarvis Gallery Garden at Blackwood Lane, Gembrook is a unique location for wedding ceremonies and photographs and for guests to wander through.
Established over 40 years, this is a mature garden of rare trees, shrubs, and bulbs.
On the gently sloping site, broad areas of lawn reveal beds of rhododendrons, oaks, maples, beech and conifers
Colour is a feature, especially in Spring and Autumn.
A wildlife corridor, the property is a haven for birds.
There are 2 main sites for ceremonies, one amongst mature exotic trees, and the other amongst ferns and mountain ash near the Cockatoo Creek.
There is vehicle access to all parts of the garden with onsite parking for up to 120 guests. Bitumen and gravel paths are enhanced by rock walls.
The Gallery building and its verandah can be used as a shelter. It has disabled access.
The ceremony and photos on site can be followed by a Reception at nearby restaurants or the Gembrook Hall.

Sue Jarvis is a contemporary artist who was born and raised in the industrial and now multicultural city of Greater Dandenong in Melbourne’s south east. Sue was a major prizewinner at the Dandenong Festival of Music and Art for Youth, and went on to become an Art Teacher, Artist and Photographer. Sue purchased the Gembrook property in the 1970's when it was a barren field used for cattle grazing. Together with her husband they planted the gardens and are now opening the gardens for weddings.

I have always wanted a garden wedding but what if it rains is there somewhere undercover in the grounds?

The ceremony space is all outdoors however should it rain you are all welcome to continue with the ceremony in the art gallery. If the weather is notorious for rain during the time you are planning your wedding you should consider hiring a marquee for the day.

My Dad has a beautiful vintage car that he wants to take me to the wedding in, how far can he drive the car into the garden?

Your Dad is going to be so pleased that he can drive right up to the celebrant and drop you off infront of all the guests. When you come out to inspect the gardens we can discuss the best location for you and the car. Have a look at the website for photos of previous cars that our wedding parties have arrived in.

Are you same sex wedding friendly?

Yes we are and look forward to having your wedding here. As we are privately owned you have a quiet location for you and your guests in total privacy.

Do you provide chairs and decorations?

Sorry we dont. We can recommend a company in which hires chairs and other decorations but as each wedding is unique we understand that everyone has their own ideas on what they want so do not provide anything other than the beautiful gardens.

What sort of catering do you provide?

Our gardens are for the ceremony or photo shoots we do not have a venue suitable for catering to groups over 20 people, however we are close to a number of reception venues in Gembrook and can recommend The Independent for your catering needs.

Do venues charge more for weddings on Public Holidays?

HI All My partner and I are considering getting married on Monday 5/10/20, which is Labour Day in the ACT and NSW. We were wondering if the venue hire would be increased, or if vendors would increase their fees? I understand that many may just charge the weekend rate, which is fine, but I'm just checking. Thanks!

The standard fee for wedding ceremonies in my garden does not increase on Public Holidays.

Low key wedding venues in Melbourne area? 40 people!

In melboure- City, Yarra valley, dandenongs: we are looking for somewhere to host our intimate wedding ceremony and lunch after. our vision is to have an intimate low key ceremony with family approx 40 guests on beautiful grounds, then a lunch to follow preferably private dining but doesn't have to be. The venue doesn't have to be exclusively booked by us either. Any Suggestions?

This does not limit the possibilities of what you would do on your day or the spending of a large budget.

Venues such as Sue Jarvis Gallery Garden in Gembrook have set fees for the exclusive hire of the property for weddings cermonies.
