With over 25 years of experience, Cairns Colonial Club can accommodate a wide range of events from large banquet style weddings to smaller more intimate affairs. Whether a private dinner under the stars, surrounded by rainforest or a sumptuous reception for 200+ in our Lockhart Grand Ballroom, you’ll have multiple venues under one roof to consider.
Nothing compares to the breathtaking surrounds of our award winning, lush tropical gardens and the traditional Queenslander style setting offered here at the Cairns Colonial Club.
Our 11 acres of rainforest gardens and three lagoon-style pools, create numerous photo opportunities, and our variety of accommodation rooms are perfect for wedding night accommodation for you and your guests.
Most of all, the iconic Cairns Colonial Club is a perfect wedding venue because you and your guests can combine your wedding celebrations with a wonderfully relaxing tropical resort vacation!
Any day you wish! Everyday is a day of celebration here at the Cairns Colonial Club.
Although there are seven days to choose from, it comes as no surprise that Saturday is by far the most popular day Aussie couples choose to get married therefore we recommend booking at least 12-18 months in advance so as not to miss out on your prefered date. If you are flexible, ask us about our mid-week specials!
The most popular months to get married are June, August, September, and October and it's no surprise why - the weather is absolutely beautiful here in early winter and spring.
Most of our wedding packages include tables, chairs, chair covers, tablecloths and napkins, crockery, cutlery and glassware. It is up to you to organise your own table centrepieces and other table or room decorations on the day. If you prefer to leave all that to someone else, we can put you in touch with several local companies who specialise in theming and decorating weddings.
You may drop off items within three business days prior to your event without a storage handling fee.
Once you confirm your wedding booking with us, we will send you paperwork outlining the date, time, deposits, and other details. You will have two weeks to review and return a signed copy of the agreement along with your initial deposit.
A payment schedule will also be provided with payments broken down over several months. The final payment will be due 10 business days prior to your wedding and will include all applicable taxes and service charges.
With Saturdays being the most popular day to get married, and considering there are only 52 weekends in a year, it doesn't leave much leeway with many couples vying for the same dates. We suggest booking 12 to 18 months ahead especially if you are looking at the peak months from June - October.
If you can be more flexible, and your preferred date is booked, consider an off-peak night of Friday or Sunday which are more likely to be available if the Saturday is not. Otherwise, ask us about our mid-week special offers.
Our romantic Rainforest Gazebo creates a beautiful backdrop for exchanging your wedding vows. The time between the ceremony and reception can be spent enjoying pre-dinner drinks and canapes on our wide timber verandas. In the event of wet weather, your ceremony can be moved indoors with 24 hours’ notice.

Our Lockhart Ballroom combines splendour with modern style, making it a unique, memorable and spacious setting for your Wedding Reception of up to 200 guests.
With period Chandeliers above and classic French doors overlooking the rainforest gardens, this really is the most stunning Reception Venue. For smaller groups you might consider the more intimate Palmerston Room or even a seated dinner overlooking the tree tops from the Jardines Verandah.
We can accommodate 200 people standing in the ceremony area surrounding our rainforest gazebo. We also provide 20 white garden chairs within our Ceremony Package. (A surcharge applies if additional seating is required.)
Cairns Colonial Club has 345 modern rooms in a variety of room types and layouts. We are happy to offer a discounted rate for friends and family attending your wedding. We recommend that your guests book at least 30 days in advance to avoid disappointment. Many guests from out of town choose to make a holiday of it and book extra nights so they can spend some time exploring our beautiful region.
Yes, most of our packages include chairs with white or black lycra chair covers and your choice of coloured band or sash. Alternatively you may choose a different chair style in which case a surcharge would apply.

We leave the room and flower decorations to specialised contracted vendors.
We have a list of vendors that we have worked with in the past, but you are free to organise a decorator yourself if you prefer. Feel free to request more information.
The Lockhart Ballroom has enough space to accommodate a band and a dance floor. It is important to provide your wedding coordinator with specific space requirements and any requests from the band so we can make appropriate arrangements.
The Cairns Colonial Club Resort offers FREE on-site parking to all in-house guests and function attendees. Your wedding guests may self-park directly in front of our Functions Centre. (Access from Behan Street).

Hi, we are looking to elope. Most packages we’ve seen for venues come with a celebrant and photographer. We’d like my partners brother to perform the ceremony but as he isn’t a registered celebrant we had looked at doing the legal bits during the week at the registry office. We also don’t require a photographer as we already have one from previous events we’d like to use again. Most elopement packages come with both of these things as a must have inclusion. Any suggestions??

Our beautiful Garden Gazebo is picturesque with a rainforest backdrop and can be hired for your wedding ceremony for $475 which includes 40 garden chairs, registration table, fresh floral arrangement, PA system and a champagne toast for the bride and groom. Of course you are more than welcome to organise your own celebrant & photographer.
For your reception dinner, the stunning Lockhart room with its high ceilings and chandeliers can comfortably seat up to 200 guests in banquet style. This venue has a fully operational indoor & outdoor bar, wrap around timber verandas and overlooks lush tropical rainforest. (Venue hire is waived if you have 70 or more adult guests and choose a Buffet or Plated menu from the attached Wedding Kit. See Page 5 of attached for more information.)
We offer Buffet and Plated menus ranging in price from $64.00 to $85.00 per person. (Children 4-12 years old pay half price).

Do you have a Wedding Venue with an all inclusive package?
Hello! We are looking to get married in October 2020. At this time Australia is on the top of the list for the destination wedding. However, we live in LA and with our busy lives will not be able to make it to AU to plan the event, thus are looking for an all inclusive venue with a wedding planner. We estimate 80 -100 guests. Our most important items are 1.) beach or waterfront view 2.) A range of prices for accommodations, 3.) Transportation to/from the venue for guests and 4.) Dance! Dance!
