Seclusions is a style assisted wedding ceremony and reception venue that offers couples the freedom to either be totally involved in the setting up, decorating, selection of vendors and all decisions associated with this most special occasion or the flexibility to allow your vendors to take care of the details for you.


The property boasts a stunning amphitheater ceremony area, "The Boat Shed" for canapes & dancing, our purpose built Pavilion has uninterrupted views seating up to 150 guests which can be either fully opened to the countryside or enclosed with clear sides ensuring your views remain uninterupted, also used as the perfect back up for wet weather (rarely required). "The Bakery" a 160yo wedding party preparation space fitted with modern ammenities, a caters preparation/kitchen area, Emily our vintage caravan bar and our 6  luxury spa log cabins for the couple plus 10 of your nearest and dearest. (Please contact us for our minors overnight policy).

Seclusions is a 2-2.5 hour drive from Sydney City and a 15-minute drive from the township of Lithgow via Lake Lyell and 40 mins from Katoomba to the east and Bathurst to the west. The venue is accessible by coach and we have affiliations with the Motels in Lithgow for further guest accommodation.

We are Russell & Malynda, the owners of Seclusions and we have over 20 years combined industry experience. Malynda's previous role being a wedding florist & Russells trade as an engineer, therefore owning and working a venue has gone hand in hand. We have hosted over 300 weddings to date and look forward to many many more. We love helping you bring your dream day to life!

FAQ

Russ & Malynda each have over ten years in the wedding industry and are here to help throughout your planning stages. Then either us or one of our experienced wedding crew will co-ordinate your day with assistance from your vendors & MC. 

We also design your table layout and supply wedding day run sheet templates.

Once your booking is confirmed couples are provided with our list of recommended suppliers, who you can select from if you wish. This will all assist with ensuring your planning and day runs seamlessly.

Yes, we are a byo venue. In saying this all alcohol is supplied by the couple and is served from "Emily" our vintage caravan bar (you can however arrange silver service with your caterers) guests are not permitted to bring their own. We can pass on details of our local bottle shop who can help arrange your drinks (keeping an eye out for when they are on sale). They will also buy back unopened boxes/cartons.

Bar staff are required to hold current RSA certificates & P/L insurance (this will generally be from/covered by the caterer).

We are boardered by a pine plantation and grazing paddocks, so no we don't have noise level restrictions. However we do ask that the music is kept at a level that is comfy for everyone's enjoyment. Final song/dance takes place between 10:30-10:40pm with all guests not staying in the cabins having left by 11pm.

The majority of our couples start their ceremony allowing between 6-8hrs celebration time, which from their feed back is more than enough time to enjoy their special occasion whilst allowing some quality time together at the end of the night.

We work closely with several of the local hotels, once you book your wedding we pass on their contact details and they can help arrange a bus to transport your guests. This way everyone arrives together, has a great time and leaves together arriving safely back at their hotel. Taxis are also another option to transport guests & we have capacity for 30 cars not including your vendors in the venue parking.

Yes most definately, following the requirements below.

Couples only, for ceremony & photos. After this is complete we require pets to be taken off site, we have no overnight accommodation for pets.

Whilst here thye are to be restrained at all times and under the supervision of a professional pet chaperone. Due to hygine and health reasons they are not to enter any buildings.

We can recommend a BnB next door which has overnight accommodation for pets or 2 amazing pet sitters who will absolutely dote on your loved one & treat them to their own special experience. 

Family and guests pets are not permitted to attend your wedding. 

Seclusions is a styled assisted venue, where you hire our blank canvas and then you or your stylist is able to put your personal touch on things. You also have the flexibility of selecting your favourite vendors to assist in designing and bringing your wedding together. Our only requirements are that they hold all relevant certificates associated with the elements they will be providing along with public liability insurance. We can also recemmond some amazing suppliers to guide you through this is you so desire.

Where to even start! My husband and I got married mid-week at Seclusions in February and to say it was the most perfect day ever (thanks to the help of Russ & Malynda) would be an understatement. Russ & Malynda answered any questions we had, no matter how big or small, and took care of so many aspects that made planning our day less stressful. They are very involved compared to what I assume other venues are, and this truly contributed to the seamless and amazing day they ran for us. All our guests raved about the scenery and said it is the most beautiful venue they have been to. Thank you Russ & Malynda for making our day so special!

You must, must, must book Seclusions for your wedding. The location, the amenities, the inclusions and the hosts are second to none. Malynda and Russ are professional from the first viewing to the wedding day and beyond. The venue took our breath away from our first visit with an endless view if mountains and lakes and the beautiful open air ceremony space which is unlike any other venue I visited. On the day Malynda and Russ took the reigns and ensured that our day came together and ran smoothly. Their care for making their couples dreams come true even extended to keeping an eye on the weather radar and making quick decisions to get our ceremony started early so we could make the most of the break in the weather. For those wanting a DIY venue with loads of inclusions (styling, tableware, furniture, accommodation) then this venue is a must.

Seclusions was, basically, the catalyst for our getting married. We had always known we wanted to be together forever, but it was our midweek romantic stay at Seclusions that showed us where and how we wanted to get married. It was everything we could have dreamed. Pictures of the venue speak for themselves, the location is stunning, and the Seclusions team become like family. Being a DIY venue you really get to go your own way and make your wedding look and feel exactly as you wish. On the day, Russ and Malynda take care of details I didn't know, and honestly still probably don't know, needed to be dealt with. I was sceptical about the whole "best day of your life" thing, but our wedding truly was, and a huge part of that is because we had it at Seclusions.

Do venues charges more for New Year's Eve weddings?

Wondering if there are surcharges for weddings on special dates like this. We're thinking of a NYE wedding.

Yes, most venues will apple surcharges as the date is classed as a Public Holiday. It can also be difficult securing staff for this date due to people wanting to celebrate themselves and prefer not to work.

In our case, we do not host Chsitmas or NYE weddings as we have a 3 week closure every year over this period.

Is there a traditional left and right side for the bride's family and groom's family?

Does the bride's side traditionally sit on the left or the right at the ceremony?

We find this is personal prefernce.

Our tips are -

- If you are having an outdoor ceremomy to consider the direction of the wind so that your veil doesnt fly across your face and if you are having an hair emeblishments that you wish to show off.  Also to pin your veil in (always) to help kee it secured.

- Be as comfortabe as you can by standing close to one another, even side by side with your celebrant to the opposite side of you this way you are facing your guests and it can be a much more comforting experience for you both. 

- Have your family sit on the opposite side to you so that they are looking at you.

What's a rough itinerary for a wedding long weekend?

Hi! We're planning a two day wedding weekend and would love ideas for how the weekend could go, including any pre or post celebrations.

Our weekend packages are always based on the following - 

- Arrive Friday 11am for a 1hr de-brief, 12pm friends/fam that are helping set up arrive and you compelete any styling & prep of the spaces and stock your bar by 6-7pm.

- Settle into your cabins and use the facilities.

- Dinner Friday night we recommend to book a local restaurant for those who wish to join you.

- Saturday you have a relaxing morning in "the bakery" our wedding party prep space. Self cook breaky boxes are provided for each cabin, then an antipasto platter for both sides of the wedding party to nibble on while the day unfolds. 

- Wedding takes place anytime from 2pm with reception and dancing to follow. You have exclusive use of our 20 acre property and many photos opportunites on site.

- Completion of the night is 11pm and retiring back to the cabins and guests departing home or back to motels via bus.

- Sunday morning you collect your items and any left over alcohol and depart by 11am

- We recomend booking another local cafe for brunch.
