Wedding stylist or planner?

We're wanting to get married in an outdoor ceremony. We need to hire someone to take care of setting up and clearing up. Is this something a wedding stylist or planner could co-ordinate? Are the chairs etc usually hired through them as well, or do we need to hire these independently?

We offer both wedding planning, styling and on the day coordination services. As a day of coordinator we do the roles you mentioned above (planning services are generally pre-wedding services that we offer like organising quotes, cross checking) then brides will book in our on the day coordination services in conjunction with this.

This coordination service does include setting everything up for you, repurposing ceremony items for re-use but also managing the day, the timeline, suppliers and coordinating the whole shebang!

A stylist will generally set all your items up too, but may not be around to repurpose decor or stick around once setup is complete, they will not manage the run sheet and coordinate the day either. However in saying this, every company is completely different in their role, so best to check direct as to what they include.

Best finding someone that can do it all, and being clear about what you require when inquring so everyone is on the same page.

All the best!

Wedding stylist or planner? Easy Weddings - July 2018 Q 1

Hello Camille and Bernard,

The difference between a Wedding Planner and a Wedding Stylist is often easily confused, so it’s important to be clear on exactly what each role entails when you’re trying to decide on which services to engage for your big day.

What is the difference between them and which one is right for you, your day and your budget is a critical question that you are very wise to seek professional guidance with.

A Wedding Planner can also double as a Wedding Stylist if they have expertise in both event development and creative styling. But specifically, a Wedding Planner is a professional who partners with you to ensure all the practical details, logistics and contractual “planning” processes are seamlessly developed and delivered from start to finish, where as a Wedding Stylist works to assist you to determine what your unforgettable day will look like - only.

For example, the wedding stylist will help make your wedding look a specific way but they won’t be at the ceremony or reception to make sure that all suppliers arrive and set up on time ( according to the runsheet of the day) and that the appropriate flow and pace of the day runs to your preferred timeline or take care  of  all those other finicky details to make these happen so you don’t have to worry about a thing except you and your partner on your unforgettable day !

The service of an 'on the day' coordinator is what you both are looking for and they will help you to engage an appropriate event hire company for your chairs and any other 'styling props' that you may need to complete your 'look' for this day.

Our packages at LUXE can include wedding styling if you so choose. The benefits of including a “wedding styling” element in your package of choice is that it helps to ensure that the unique theme and style for your unforgettable day is the focus of all vendor and supplier contracts from the outset – the earlier your style and “look” concept is factored into the budget and planning, the better.

The role of a Wedding Planner

Your Wedding Planner is the organiser and or the coordinator of all aspects of your big day. Their main focus is on logistics and practicalities e.g.: venues, vendors, contracts, run sheets and the cohesive coordination of all the elements across the day from the prep area, ceremony and the reception from start to finish.

A full-service Wedding Planner’s role is to be your professional guide and mentor through every aspect of your planning and delivery process. They are responsible for key facets of your event including, but not limited to:

·    Overseeing the logistics of your wedding planning and delivery

·    Assisting with selection of suppliers, vendors and venues that have a ‘mutual fit’ with your budget and style

·     Contractual negotiations and agreements

·      Protocol and or etiquette advice

·      Practical ‘day of’ event timeline and run sheets for all suppliers and venues party to the delivery of the day

·      Wet Weather Plan (WWP)  - a must have (JIC)

·      Guest Relations

·      Supplier, Vendor and Venue final payment schedules

·      Problem solving on the day

The role of a Wedding Stylist

Your Wedding Stylist, or designer helps you decide how your wedding is going to look and feel. Think of them as the interior decorator for your wedding. They should work with your wedding planner to ensure a holistic approach to your day.  They are responsible for the overall aesthetic for your event including: Developing a unique theme for your wedding and working with florists, lighting, decorators, furniture suppliers etc. – all of which can be factored in your wedding planning package of choice also. This can be also be done by an experienced wedding planner too.

It is a good idea to check with your Wedding Planner to confirm exactly what is in your package to ensure that the styling component has been incorporated into their full-service or partial planning and or coordination package to avoid confusion and disappointment.

Your Wedding Planner is the key player who partners with you to develop and deliver your unforgettable day – your way – without fuss.

By the time your unforgettable day arrives, your Wedding Planner will know you, your partner, family, friends, and ultimately your wedding day vision thoroughly.

A full-service Wedding Planner should provide you with a service that feels like it is undeniably the most valuable investment you have made.

If you have any questions just call us at LUXE… Remember – it’s your day… and partnering with the right Wedding Planner and event specialist ensures it will be unforgettable - for all the right reasons.

I hope this helps you both on your wedding day pathway – all the very best for the most fabulous day - your way.

Morning lovelies!

Generally a planner is a great pick, purely because they're able to organise all areas of the event and control the aspects needed. When you have a Wedding Planner involved, they can also control the style you're going for from the furniture hired in the outdoor ceremony, florals, invitations and on the day setup.

A stylist is someone who will setup for you, style the vision you have outlined and then pack down for you, sometimes you will find companies will also offer furniture hire and styling in the same package (i.e. Berry Vintage).

I hope this helps lovely!

Have a great weekend ahead!

Hi Camille and Bernard,

A wedding stylist is usually the person that sets up and clears the ceremony as the area normally requires some form of styling with florals etc. They can hire chairs or provide the other items that you might require such as an arbour or signing table as well. We provide all of the services that you require and have an extensive range of pieces available to coordinate your ceremony. good luck with your planning.

Hi Camille and Bernard!

Amazing to have an outdoor ceremony, relaxed and best for the photos! I am able to assist with ensuring your ceremony is running smoothly as I am both a Stylist and a Day Of Coordinator. Your ceremony can be styled using your own decorations or I have a range of decorations available including chairs, then after the ceremony I can clear any mess and pack down the decorations. I will also coordinate the ceremony by welcoming guests, ensuring the timing is correct, your celebrant is ready and photographer. Feel free to contact me with any questions, happy to chat and customise my services to you!

Yes a planner can look after this for you. A stylist takes care of the look and feel of the overall ceremony and reception, making sure it all flows. A planner can hire what is needed as well.
