What happens if we need to cancel/postpone our wedding?

Never fear! I totally understand the unexpected happens and I want you to feel as comfortable as you can knowing I've got you covered: If your wedding is being postponed and I can make the new date, I will simply shift your booking to that date as though you originally booked it. If your wedding is postponed to a date I CANNOT make, I will assist with finding a replacement and then give any money paid (minus the booking deposit) to the new MC. I will also catch them up to date with everything to do with your wedding arranged so far. If your wedding is cancelled and I am notified more than 4 weeks before the date, I will refund all money paid, minus the booking deposit. All my terms are listed in my Service Agreement, however, as a rule of thumb, the earlier you let me know the easier it will be for me to make a decision that is fair for the both of us :)

Do you offer more than simply announcements and event management as part of your package?

YES! I offer so much more! My unique 10+ year background in the Cruise and Recreation industries has given me a treasure trove of extras that I can offer you and your guests that I am certain most MCs do not. In fact, I offer the LARGEST list of optional entertainment extras of an MC in Australia! Games and activities, like The Shoe Game, Trivia, Musical Men, and Name That Tune. Our celebrant/DJ/family friend already offered to do it. Why should we pay more for a separate MC?

You can certainly choose to go with a family/friend member or with the DJ/venue's offer, like every decision for your wedding you are completely at liberty to do so! The biggest advantage you have paying for a professional MC for one of the biggest days of your life is that we, as event managers, are the MOST able and experienced to pull all the crazy elements of the reception together on the day. It's what we do best! Just like it's no question that you hire a photographer as they are highly skilled in getting the right shot and edit of your once-in-a-lifetime photos, and MC is no different. We are an ESSENTIAL part of managing the chaos of a wedding and we thrive in it for you and your guests' benefit and entertainment.

Is an appointment necessary?

Yes, I prefer to meet with prospective clients before finalising dates and service agreements. That way we can determine if we are a good fit and give you a good idea of my personality and style. I want you to feel totally comfortable and happy with me for your big day! However, this is totally up to you. Some of my couples have met with me 4 times before their wedding day, while others never opt to meet until the day itself. I offer that flexibility and choice to you as well.

What time do you generally arrive at a venue/event?

You can expect me to arrive at least 1 hour prior to your reception/event to familiarise myself with the venue, introduce myself to your vendors and venue manager and, most importantly, let you know I have arrived so we can kick the event off without a hitch! I will also stay until the very end, hosting you and your guests until the night is done. Can't Master a ceremony if you only do half of it! ;)

How long am I booking you as my wedding MC?

While it is helpful during your enquiry stage to let me know approximately how long you've booked your reception for, my base rate covers your entire reception period. I don't operate on hourly rates etc. as I believe being present and MCing the entire reception is truly what a MASTER of Ceremonies is. It also allows me to best get to know and entertain you and your guests and ensures I am taking care of every detail from start to finish.

Can you speak any other languages?

Is music a language? Although I'd argue it 100% is a language, my only spoken language is English (although I am trying to learn Italian, French, and Spanish on my travels!).

FAQ

What is the job of a Wedding MC?

Wow this is a big question, how much time do you have? But seriously, a wedding MC has a massive part to play on the night. They are needed for:

Live announcements throughout the night, particularly at important moments such as the cutting of the cake, the bridal entrance, or when it's time for speeches/toasting
Keeping a close eye on the time and running sheet, making sure everything is going as close to schedule as possible
Liaising with all vendors and the venue staff all night, especially when anything is about to begin that they wouldn't want to miss, such as a photo opportunity or food and beverage service
Setting the tone of the evening, including the way announcements are made, interacting with guests and the bridal table, and generally keeping things moving along smoothly

The list goes on! It's definitely a job that a lot of people underestimate, and I am not joking the amount of people I've spoken to after they've went to a wedding and mentioned that the MC was bad or didn't quite hit the mark. A lot of the time it was a family member or friend, or it was an inexperienced DJ who was a lot better at spinning tracks than making engaging announcements or spending time being a true host.

It's a labour of love and as your dedicated Wedding MC I aim to NEVER have anyone come away from your wedding feeling like that (rather, the complete opposite!).

What experience, certificates, and licenses does your business have to qualify for hire?

+10 Years on Stage - most notably experienced with multi-generational and international audiences as an Entertainment Host with Princess Cruises
Fully Insured - Current Performer's Liability Insurance Policy (Updated October 2022)
Valid National Police Check (As of June 2021)
Certified Working with Children's Check (As of May 2021)

What type of payments do you accept?

Currently, I accept Direct Deposit (Preferred), and all major domestic and international credit cards. I technically, of course, do take cash BUT I do not offer cash discounts.

I do not accept cheques.

I do not charge a surcharge for credit charges.

Do You require a booking deposit and service agreement? If so, how much?

Yes and yes. I require a $300 deposit within two weeks of the issuance of an invoice. I also require an electronic Service Agreement signed and returned within 14 days of issuance. Both of these must be complete otherwise I cannot guarantee your requested date.

Once signed and the deposit is paid, the date is all yours and I get to work! YAY!

I'm so glad that I chose Nathan to be and wife's wedding ceremony and become our MC! Genuinely friendly, energetic and outgoing from the first time we met, he immediately helped us with what we wanted in our wedding and how to make our day be truly and energetic, fun and most importable, memorable event in our lives. Nathan was a phenomenal MC and the wedding wouldn’t have been such a hit with our guest if it wasn’t for him. He is very much an entertainer and was so friendly welcoming our guest from the start of the reception and mingling well whilst my husband and I were having photographs taken. Nathan kept the night rolling smoothly and was a wonderful MC with quick humour and charm. Our guests loved him and I have passed on Nathan details to a friend who’s brother is getting married next year. I couldn’t recommend Nathan enough, he was worth every cent and much much more. The structured dance was one of my favourite part with Nathan dancing with the wedding guest and bringing the party atmosphere alive.

Nathan was so amazing in every aspect of his service. From the get go he was attentive, communicative and professional. The minute we met him we knew that we had to have him part of our day! He was helpful and flexible when it came to our couple of postponements due to Covid and he was always timely with his return communication. In the weeks leading up to our wedding we were thrown a couple of curve balls, but Nathan just took them in his stride and even was able to ease the mind of a very stressed bride.
