Look, we know how expensive it is to hire a professional photographer, especially when everyone seems to have a camera in their pocket. But hiring a professional is more then just hiring a fancy camera. Its engaging someone who knows not just how to take a photo, but understands how a wedding works, when the key moments are, and can also react quicky to take those perfect candid moments that can’t be scripted. It means you are covered in case anything goes wrong and can even save friendships if the end result isn’t what you expected.

This is a common question we receive; weddings are often on a strict timetable, so it is important to know how long to allocate for photos. The time allocated for photography on your wedding day depends on several factors, including whether your ceremony and reception are at the same venue, the number of locations you wish to shoot at, and the duration of the gap between the ceremony and reception.

For example:

If you are having both reception and ceremony at the same venue, we recommend allocating 1 to 1.5 hours for photos. For instance, if your reception starts at 5 PM, your ceremony should conclude by 3:30 PM. This timeframe allows ample opportunity for group shots and bridal party photos. Its also important to think about things like when sunset might be, to get that amazing golden hour light that makes things really glow!

If, however, your ceremony and reception are at different venues, we suggest an average of 3 hours between the ceremony and reception. This duration accounts for travel time between the ceremony, location shoot, and reception, while also providing sufficient time for a variety of shots. If you plan to include multiple location shoots that require additional travel, it's essential to factor this into your schedule to ensure timely arrival at your reception.

On average, we work on a two week turnaround time for digital images. This gives us time to sort, edit and prepare the best images and get them out to you. For prints and other media, these take a little more time depending on volume and other variables.

Don’t worry about that, neither are we (that’s why we’re behind the camera!). We understand how to get the best out of you, even if you are super camera shy, and will lead you as much as you need to create perfect, natural photos. To be honest, we don’t want to create stock poses as much as we want to bring out your own personality and the emotion of the day.
