Get Expert Adviceshould we have a first look?
Hey! I'm just wondering if as a photographer you recommend having a first look or not?
Thinking of having a post-wedding photo shoot?
Looking for someone to do this and wondering if anyone has done this before? It wouldn't be a "hangover party", it would be similar to a portrait shoot... just not on the wedding day but still in our outfits. In victoria somewhere.
Bye Bye Blackbird
This is similar to a first look photo session in that it minimises time spent away from guests. In my experience, most couples prefer to be with their family and friends, especially when many have travelled great distances to be apart of the day. The beauty of a post-session is that nerves are calmer, plus you can come up with some really adventurous and crazy concepts (e.g. trash the dress) that you mightened be able to achieve on the actual wedding day.
How many weddings do you book per weekend?
Bye Bye Blackbird
Typically the most a photographer can commit to over a normal weekend is two. One for each day.
A photographer should want to give you their full attention and plenty of time for capturing the event. Normally wedding coverage can start up to two hours before the ceremony, so if your photographer does have more than one wedding on one day, you would want to ensure they have allowed for plenty of time between each event.

Bye Bye Blackbird
I think that 'first looks' are a brilliant way of creating a truly intimate and personal experience between the two of you, whilst taking away the pressure and nervousness of being in front of a crowd. Photographing your first look also means that you can spend less time away from your guests after the ceremony.
