January 2022

An absolutely wonderful photographer. My husband and I would recommend Rod to anyone in a heartbeat. He was our wedding photographer in February 2021 and from the moment we engaged him for our wedding we found him nothing less than brilliant. He was always available to talk to about anything, he never left a query unanswered, he's a great person and we are amazed and super happy with the wedding photos. Rod discussed at length with us what sort of photos we had in mind, gave great advice and researched in great detail all the photograph venues we suggested, even travelling to Toowoomba to look at the photograph sites before the wedding, and making contact with places such as the historic Bulls Head Inn on our behalf. All of our guests loved him and we have the most beautiful wedding album of his photographs to remember our special day by.

Hi Robyn and Dave, It was an absolute pleasure to have photographed your special day. You are a wonderful couple and your wedding was so beautiful.

September 2019

Rod was the perfect photographer for us, as he was warm and informal. He was great on the day, working in with us and adapting quickly to changing circumstances. He delivered a wonderful set of images and a beautiful book of nine fine art images which we have on display. I'd recommend Rod's services to anyone.

What's the best time to choose our wedding photographer?

Thinking of having video as well.

Rod Noendeng Photography

When choosing your photographer there are a few things you should consider. Do you have your heart set on a particular photographer? Is your big day in peak wedding season? Do you have your date and venue locked in? The first big three you should have on your to-do list are locking in your venue, photographer, and celebrant. It's difficult for a photographer and celebrant to commit if you don't have your date locked in. I would say choose and book your photographer and celebrant as soon as you have locked in your venue. For some, this may be 12 months or more and for others only a few months. The sooner you do this, the more likely the photographer you choose is available for your big day.

If you book a photographer early enough, you have time to do a couples session. You have the opportunity to get to know your photographer and vice versa. You will also have some wonderful photos which can be used for your invitations or at your reception. You can also use these for your "Thank You" cards.

So to cut a long story short, choose and book your photographer as soon as you have a date and venue locked in. All the best with your wedding!

Why should you hire a professional photographer for your wedding?

Rod Noendeng Photography

How important are your wedding photos to you and your partner? If you said they are very important I would suggest a professional wedding photographer. You should keep in mind not all professional photographers are created equal. Real estate photographers may not be so good at wedding photography and a wedding photographer may struggle with real estate photography. I will list some of the pros and cons so you can decide what is best for you.

Some pros, not all.

  • They are professional
  • Help with planning your day
  • Has the experience to handle different conditions on the day
  • Is insured (just in case things don't go to plan)
  • Will have back up camera and lenses
  • Has backup copies of your photos
  • Is experienced at photographing weddings
  • Is good with people
  • not to mention creative skills photographing and editing

Some cons, again not all.

  • may cost a little more than uncle bob (the reason for that are listed in the list of pros)
  • many styles to choose from
  • finding a photographer you connect with (don't expect to like all the photographers you meet)
  • may be limited to the albums and prints they offer

I hope this has given you food for thought. I can definitely think of many more pros than cons. Don't leave capturing your special day to just anyone. Make sure you meet your potential photographer in a relaxed environment and get to know the actual person who will be photographing on the day.

Good luck and congratulations to you both, Rod

If I can't afford a wedding photographer, what should I do?

Should I approach a student? Or should I cut back in other areas?

Rod Noendeng Photography

This is a question that I've been asking before. You need to decide what's most important to you and your partner on your wedding day. There are some things which are a must such as makeup and hair, a wedding dress and a celebrant. What you spend on each will depend on your budget. However, if you want to have great photos of your day I would recommend a professional photographer. Firstly I suggest seeing if you can cut back on some of the other expenses to allow for a photographer. If you now have little to get a photographer on your wedding day there are a few options.
  • See if you can find a photographer who meets your new budget. There are good photographers who are just starting out and have very reasonable prices.
  • Check out the bridal expos. Photographers at these expos have great specials if you commit on the day. So be prepared to make a quick decision.
  • The photographer has a payment plan. Booking early with them could mean it is paid for before the wedding. There may also be a payment plan that will allow you paid off afterwards.
  • Maybe you can have only the ceremony photographed. This would be a couple of hours and should not cost as much as the whole day.
  • Have a chat to the photographer they may be able to offer you a custom package that may suit your budget.

If all that fails do you know someone who is a proficient photographer who would do it for you. Have your friends and family take photos at reception for you. However, remember a professional photographer does more than take good photos. They have experience and know how and when to make the most of the situations for the best photos. They also have back up equipment and insurance, as well as editing skills. I hope this helps a little with your wedding planning.
