I was wondering what are some good wedding songs?

Looking for some not so obvious ones.

Hi Kim,

obviously it will depend on your music tastes, and when you want music to be played at your wedding. Here are some suggestions:

1. Service - songs more laidback to mark the occassion:

- Into my arms (Nick Cave)

- A Thousand Years (Christinna Perri - if you are a Twilight fan)

- All you need is love (Beatles)

- Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)

- It had to be you (Frank Sinatra)

- Days like this (Van Morrison)

- Come away with me (Nora Jones)

- Eternal Flame (Bangles)

2. Cocktail party reception

- It must be love (Madness)

- Moondance (Van Morrison)

- Everything (Muchael Buble)

- I've got you under my skin (Frank Sinatra)

- My baby just cares for me (Nina Simone)

- Aint no sunshine (Bill Withers)

- My Happiness (Powderfinger)

- Throw your amrs around me (Hunters and Collectors)

- Is this love (Bob Marley)

- Message to my girl (Crowded House)

3. Dancing at reception

- Happy (Pharrell Williams)

- Love is in the air (John Paul Young)

- Crazy little thing called love (Queen)

- Kiss (Prince)

- Rock with you (Michael jackson)

- Beautiful Day (U2)

- Are you gonna be my girl (Jet)

- Take on me (A-ha)

- Sweet Dreams (Eurhythmics)

- I'm a believer (Monkeys)

- Dancing Queen (ABBA)

- Hey-ya (Outkast)

- Staying Alive (BeeGees)

- Run to you (Bryan ADAMS)

Something cheeky:

- Foxy Lady (garter tossing?)

- Single Ladies (bouquet tossing?)

- You shook me all night long

Sorry it's a bit long, too many options. Good luck!

(By the way, we can play all of these!)

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi,

Generally speaking, the walk down the isle is a soft and tender song (e.g. 'All I Want Is You'), the cutting of the cake is an upbeat acoustic song (choose 2 songs to have enough music to cover the time - e.g. 'You and Me' and 'Better Together'), the end of the ceremony is something really cheerful and upbeat (e.g. 'Singed, Sealed, Delivered), and the bridal waltz is something heartfelt, but with rhythm (e.g. Thinking Out Loud).

There are so many Spotify wedding music playlists out there (Google: 'most popular wedding songs globally on Spotify), but remember, nothing beats having live music! You can use lists like these for inspiration though.

Alternatively, we offer a custom songwriting service. You can pick a style of music and some themes/ideas/lyrics and have a song tailor made just for you.

Hope this helps,

Peter

Hi Kim, First off, congrats on your engagement! What an exciting time ahead! It looks like my colleagues from other bands and duos have pretty much covered all the answers there. If your talking ceremony songs, we can do a really pretty acoustic arrangement of anything you choose, so I would say go with a song that really hits a spot with you and you finance. It doesn't need to be known by your guests at all. Just run with it. As far as the reception goes, as some of the other answers have stated, keep the music varied and not too obscure as there is a huge demographic of people with different tastes all wanting to have a dance and sing along. A good wedding band will know which song to play at the right moment to keep the dance floor full. Here's some of my favourite songs for walking down the aisle or the first dance that we've played, that are not too obvious are (Generally played acoustic with vocals):

Kiss me - Six Pence None the Richer

Turning Page - Sleeping At Last

Thank You - Led Zeppelin

Make You Fell My Love - Adelle

Real Love - The Beatles

The First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes

Good Luck Kim! I hope your day

Stay With You - John Legend

Only You Can Love Me This Way - Keith Urban

Good Luck Kim, I hope this helps and I hope you have a fantastic wedding day!!! Adam

Hi Kim,

if you don't want to go with the cliches, definitely go with the music style you love, and that speaks most closely of your feelings with your partner. It's your day and the music should reflect this. For example, we have performed acoustic versions of requested songs as varied as Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" (where the Bride did an interpretive dance in a red dress!) to Paula Abdul for a gay wedding, an Indonesian language version of Moliendo Cafe for the first dance, and all manner of totally individual requests besides. As long as you are having fun and including your guests in it, the list is entirely up to you. That said, as professionals we have done this a million times and can choose songs appropriate for any crowd and age-mix, without doing the obvious. Get in touch to discuss your preferred soundtrack for your wedding.

Looking at more modern guys like Vance Joy or we have arranged popular songs in a more laid back acoustic style for a different sound from Ellie Goulding for example. Think about what you and your friends like but don't go too obscure as you are catering for a broad range of tastes. Thanks Tom

Hi Kim,

We get this question all the time!

I know how difficult it can be to come up with original song choices for your day.

Many of our couples feel the same way and want songs that feel special to them that haven't been over commercialised.

Here is a list of the songs we have learned over the past couple of years that aren't really 'typical' wedding songs.

Another way to put a personal spin on your wedding music is to have a musician perform a special arrangement of a more familiar song. I have also included some beautiful covers of old classics below for inspiration.

Good luck with the search. I have a longer list - I will have more of a look this week and add more soon.

Well, it depends on what part of the wedding you are referring to! For the first dance it is important that the song is meaningful to you both. Some songs we have played recently for the first dance include:

Just the way you are - Billy Joel
Everlong - Foo Fighters, acoustic version
In my life - Beatles
All you need is love - Beatles
Wait for me - Bruce Springsteen
Have I told you lately that I love you - Van Morrison
Mess is Mine - Vance Joy

For later in the night, you will need songs that cater to a large age range. Can't go wrong with classic hits of the 80s (foot loose, Take on me etc..) and then some more modern tunes later on (Mr Brightside, Shut up and dance)

Hope this helps!

Hi Kim,

Good wedding songs depend on your family and friends and the moment you are talking about. For example, early in the evening over entrees and while guests are relaxing and enjoying their meals and drinks it might be good to include some jazz, soul and indie style tunes that your guests can listen to and enjoy at an easy volume. For later in the evening after formalities are done and you want teat
