The Barleyshakes

The Barleyshakes formed in Dublin in 1995 then the band moved to the Sunshine Coast in Australia in 2000. The Barleyshakes music is Irish at its core, but we are one of the most versatile bands in Australia today.

We love nothing more than to provide the music for your special event. For private events, we love to play a vast repertoire of lively loveable music, not just Irish folk music. We have over 200 popular songs for you to choose from the last 50 years of hits in our repertoire. If you want  us to learn a song especially, no problem, we absolutely love learning new songs.

We mostly recommend our Trio line-up for weddings but are happy to provide from solo (acoustic guitar and vocals) to the full 5 piece band, this ensures we can work to any budget.

Basically, we love to work with you to get the music perfect for your big event.

We have a very long list of satisfied customers only too happy to recommend us.

Our chief violin player is a graduate of the Brisbane Conservatorium and so we can even provide a String Quartet for your ceremony or pre-drinks. 

Also highly popular with Brides is an acoustic Irish folk bracket during your pre-drinks or signing.

We are available for same sex weddings as well, having done  a good few in the past.

Hi, I've been a professional musician for over 25 years, it really is my passion as well as my profession. I love the fact that I get to make people happy with my music. It's very usual at my shows for everyone to end up on the dance floor and singing along. Whether I am playing Irish folk music with my band the Barleyshakes or performing favourite covers solo, I always make the party happen. I love playing the music at weddings, even though it is a long day, you get to meet some lovely people.
