What you can expect when working with Birds of a Feather for your wedding music:

Incredible music. This duo was born to perform together! Hannah has the most dreamy voice while Mike is an outstanding guitar player, and together they sound incredible. Your guests will love their sound - they provide a fresh take on well-loved songs.
Extensive song list. From Kim Carnes’ ‘Bette Davis Eyes’ and Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ to ‘Get Lucky’ by Daft Punk, Birds of a Feather have a wide selection of songs - including both recent hits to classic tunes - for you to choose from.
Versatile genres. Whether you’d prefer jazz, pop, folk or even blues at your wedding, Birds of a Feather can accommodate your request - you need only ask. This duo is versatile, and can play a range of genres to suit your needs. You might like them to play soulful sounds at your ceremony and then increase the tempo at your reception to get your guests on the dance floor - it’s entirely up to you!
Experienced musicians. Hannah and Mike are confident, experienced performers, with this pair having studied at the Australian Institute of Music and performed at numerous events, weddings, festivals and pubs over the years.

Wedding packages. Birds of a Feather offer convenient wedding packages, with prices ranging from as little as $500 to $2500. You might like a full wedding package or music just for the pre-ceremony and wedding, or after you’re married during the cocktail hour. These packages also include a complimentary microphone for your MC & speeches - score!
MC. 'Hannah the Host' is happy to confidently be the MC (Master of Ceremony) of your event for just $200 on top of a music package. Her experience in the performing arts makes her a perfect candidate to create your audience and introduce your honorary guests on your special day.
Travel. This talented duo are based in Newcastle, and do not have any additional travel fees for weddings within 45 minutes of Newcastle’s CBD. However, they frequently travel around the state to be at weddings - think, Byron Bay, Hunter Valley, Regional Victoria and the Mid North Coast - and they do charge a small travel fee for these occasions to cover their travel costs.
Other events. Like what you hear? Luckily, Birds of a Feather are also available for private and corporate events, with prices starting from as little as $400 for two hours. Whether you’re hoping to book them for a 40th birthday or Christmas party, they’re happy to help.

FAQ

What style of music will you play? Can we request the music?

Birds of a Feather play a varied repertoire to appeal to all guests - old and young. We typically play a mix of jazz/soul/folk, and at the beginning of your event so that your guests have a chance to mingle without being dominated by sound.

Then, we are eager to energise the set by playing a range of funk, pop and rock. It's at the end of the night where we place the most importance, this is where you would want everyone up dancing and having a boogie to up tempo, well known tunes.

We are happy for you to leave the song decisions up to us as we are highly confident in creating the right atmosphere to ensure your event is memorable. However, if you have particular song requests then send them our way (up to 5 songs), bearing in mind the time frame between your requests and the event.

Are you willing to travel? If so, how far and are there extra costs involved?

Birds of a Feather are based in the CBD of Newcastle, NSW. We have had wedding gigs in Byron Bay, the Mid North coast and the Hunter Region. Any event within 45 minutes of Newcastle CBD does not have an associated travel fee. However, beyond that, costs are added to cover travel time and fuel costs. Please get in contact to discuss specifics of travel quotes.

How does set up and sound check work?

On average we need 45 minutes to set up and do a sound check before we begin live music. You are not charged for this process. For instance, if you booked us for 5 hours (I.e.6pm to 11pm) we would arrive 5-5.15pm to set up.

How does the booking process work?

If you’d like Birds of a Feather to perform at your next event whether that be wedding or corporate, you can get in touch with through EasyWeddings and vision is for the entertainment wanted at your event I.e. timeframe, style of music, and/or the package you’re interested in (check packages page for reference).

After initial contact, we are happy to work with you to make the right decisions to benefit your celebration. Finally, to secure the date we ask for a deposit.

Hannah and Mike were absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond for my wedding and made the day incredible, from a last minute venue change to a last minute schedule change without even batting an eyelid. My day wouldn’t have been as magical without them and I am so thankful.

Hannah and Mike were perfect at my wedding in October. They had the perfect mix of mellow acoustic music as people mingled after the ceremony and then jumped into a more lively set just before dinner. We were so excited to see our guests already up and dancing before dinner had even started! They have a fantastic vibe, great rapport with the crowd and are super easy to communicate /organise with. Couldn't recommend these guys more highly!

Hannah and Mike played at our Byron Bay wedding in October of 2019 at Beach Byron Bay, and were amazing from day one. Flexible, reliable, quick and clear communications in the lead up, and even better on the day. They learnt and nailed some of our favourite songs and had an expansive set list which perfectly suited the changing moods of the evening, from chilled through to rowdy. They sound amazing and would be an asset to any special occasion. The plentiful maracas dispersed amongst the guests were a particular highlight!!

Are there additional fees to have continuous music without breaks?

Birds of a Feather Duo

There are no additional fees to have continuous music. That is, to play DJ music in between breaks of live music. Since we are a live music act, we aim to have minimal breaks and to keep them short. In these breaks we play music from a selected playlist that suits the atmosphere of your event (or, you can provide one if you wish) at no additional cost.
