Nathan first started Melbourne Entertainment Co. back in 2011. While holding a residency with Nova FM nationally for 6 years, he began building a team of fresh, cool & talented performers to fill a niche in the wedding entertainment market. Seeing many out of touch, un-cool and dated acts, Nathan saw an opportunity to keep weddings exciting and youthful.     It's YOUR day! You can have a much or as little input into your playlist as you choose. We've developed a simple yet thorough consultation process so that all of your requests are carefully considered and professionally integrated by our music experts.

    The decision to book a DJ or a band has long been the topic of discussion for couples. We believe that we have come up with an innovative solution to this problem: The DJ Band.

    Adding a live element to an otherwise standard DJ set can create a unique, bespoke entertainment experience that will keep your guests raving for years to come. Our most popular additions to our DJ sets (in order) are: Singers, Saxophonists, Percussionists, Guitarists, Strings and Pianists. For the best experience, we recommend booking 2 or 3 live elements for your wedding.

    After discussing your aspirations, we will recommend for your personal selection, a few choice DJs & exciting entertainers whom are available for your wedding.

    OR if you spend enough time making decisions, you can leave this up to our expert's professional judgement. 

    We require a 50% deposit made within 1 week of your booking confirmation, with the balance due 3 business days prior to your wedding. 

    Being a reputable Entertainment Company, we have never failed to provide our couples with ideal solutions in these unfortunate but occasionally unavoidable instances. We will go to great lengths to find a suitable replacement of an equal or higher calibre – as the show must and will go on!

    Thomas R played at our wedding on NYE and was amazing start to finish. Tom learnt our wedding song without any hassle and did an amazing job. From our first meeting he put us both at ease because he listened and learnt what we wanted and played it. On the night Tom was great on the guitar and also amazing as a DJ and made the whole night have the right feel. I’d recommend Tom to anyone!! Tom went above and beyond for our wedding and nothing was too much trouble.

    We had MEC do all our entertainment for our wedding day and they did not disappoint! We had Dane as our booking manager and after three postponements he always made sure we were always looked after. On the day we had Jeremy and Callum and they both exceed expectations. Jeremy made us feel so special with his incredible voice that moved our guests to tears. Callum knew how to get the party started and even though he’d just met us, managed to give us such a personal MC experience. His trumpet/sax skills were so amazing and our guests danced for hours! 100% recommend MEC, Jeremy and Callum.

    Hannah was amazing at our summer wedding - we were very specific with our requests/playlists and she absolutely nailed it.     We hired the band Party House through Melbourne Entertainment Company for our wedding reception and could not be happier!! They played all the pub classics that our guests of all ages could get up and dance to, the dance floor was never empty during their sets and our guests had a fantastic time thanks to their unmatched performance abilities. Melbourne Entertainment Company were so organised and supportive, and made the entire process so easy from booking to finalising the details. We could not recommend Melbourne Entertainment Company, and particularly the band Party House enough for making sure we had a wedding that will be hard to top!!

    What's the best way to incorporate Greek and English music at our reception?

    Hi there. My partner is Greek, and I'm Aussie, and our guest list reflects roughly half and half. Wanting to ensure both cultures are represented and have a great time. How best to include music for each so everyone has fun?

    All of our DJs are very well experienced in playing traditional music from a variety of different cultures for a couple of sets throughout the night. We regularly perform at different types of weddings eg: (Italian/Macedonian/European/Arabic/Greek etc….) whereby a few brackets of traiditional music is played for 5-45 minutes (depending on how long you’re after). 

    Upon booking with us, you’ll receive a DJ Request/Expectations Form to fill out with room to complete your:

    • Formality Requests (entry songs / specific dances Yes/No)
    • Top 10 Must Plays
    • Additional Song Requests
    • Traditional/Cutlural Songs
    • Do-Not-Plays (for any tragic overdone song you don’t want played - no thanks Macarena haha)

    You have full customisation over the songs that you wish to hear including the traditional/cultural songs that you’re after. 

    We may have a list of your nationality's songs which we’ve collected from some previous weddings as inspiration if you like which we can attached. You might like some of these, or they may not be appropriate. We understand that every culture has it’s own specific nuances/tastes - But it’s a starting point! 

    Do DJ's provide a sound system to use?

    Absolutely we do yes! All of our DJ quotes include 2x powered PA speakers providing a sound system sufficient for up to a dancefloor of 150 people

    Will a wedding band or DJ act as an MC?

    Just wondering whether it's common for wedding DJs to also act as an MC?

    Some DJs and Bands can MC weddings. What is comes down to is your own expectation of what an MC is meant to deliver... If you are only seeking basic announcements such as welcoming your guests and notifying a tradition is imminent, then a confident, experienced and well spoken DJ or band member should be able to deliver this. If you wish for your MC to interact with guests, have a lot of dialogue and be able to deliver it in a personal, charming and engaging style, then you're best off seeking the service of a dedicated Master of Ceremonies whom will have your guests raving!
