We booked Les Trois Amies at the last minute, after not being able to get an organist for our church. I am so glad we did!! they played for the wedding guests before the ceremony and throughout the ceremony. There were ample songs to choose from on their website and they communicated well with us. Many guests have complimented the music. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for any event. True professionals.

After watching Father of the Bride as a young girl, it has always been a dream of mine to have a string quartet and walk down the aisle to Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel. It was perfect and really set the mood for the elegant wedding we wanted to create. The music we picked for walking out of the ceremony as man and wife was the theme song to Star Wars. We picked this because of Matt’s love for Star Wars which we decided to keep a secret from our family and friends – the look on their faces was a picture as it reflected Matt and I perfectly (a classical version of Star Wars) and it really lightened the mood for the fun celebrations we had ahead of us.

Very professional and just what I wanted ( pop songs done in a classical style for our reception) along with a male singer that Les Trois Amies sourced for me, the singer I had was Reilly Craig and he was excellent. They both dressed very professionally ( my singer/ piano player and violinist) and they wore lovely formal wear for the occasion. The violinist was very talented and could play along with the songs that Reilly had on his play list. Reilly was super friendly, accommodating and professional to work with and has a great voice to listen to, he is also multi talented as he can sing plus play multiple different instruments.

Rebecca and the ladies, played at our wedding in January for 2 hours during our ceremony and drinks & canapes before the reception commenced. It was beautiful, a combination of old classics and modern music was perfect for our cocktail style wedding. Thank you for making our day special and I would highly recommend Les Trios Amies.

Do musicians charge by the hour?

I am thinking of booking a singer to sing our entrance song only and wondering musicians charge by the hour?I already have a pianist and violinist and feel I would like it if a musician would also play the song.I am based in Adelaide for a winter wedding.

Les Trois Amies

Hi Tendai,

Yes usually musicians charge by the hour.  Sometimes singers will charge per number of songs though, so it's worth enquiring with them and asking!  We are an instrumental group in Perth, and often recommend singers to perform with us.  Many of them will happily just do one song for a wedding.

Good luck!  Hope your wedding goes well!

What's the best way to choose my wedding music?

I'm not sure how to go about choosing my wedding music. Do you have any advice for curating the soundtrack?

Les Trois Amies

Hi Lucy, I definitely think trust your instincts to begin with. If you have a favourite song or songs, try to incorporate them first, obviously ensuring your partner loves these too. The three important music sections of your ceremony are the entrance (processional), signing of the registry and the recessional (exit/end of ceremony). This is where your favourite songs could come in. For the entrance, something that is not too fast if ideal, so you don't have to rush in! Sometimes couples choose 2 songs for their entrance: 1 for the bridesmaids/bridal party and 1 for the bride. As far as live music goes, we find that interrupts the flow of the entrance a bit, but it is your choice of course. You can have just about anything for the signing of the registry - fast or slow or medium. It's often good to have a back up piece for the signing in case it goes for a while. For the exit, we always recommend a more upbeat, happy, vibrant song that you both love.

You can visit our website to see our recommendations and complete playlist for ceremonies and weddings, if you would like more ideas and inspiration.

Choosing the music for the reception can take a while; you could make notes during the lead up to the wedding of songs you love to help create a list. Or you may prefer to select your music all in the one go - meeting with your DJ or live band. We find that most of our clients need to go away and think about their playlist, and discuss with their partner at length. Obviously, spending some time listening to music on YouTube etc or going to see live bands you are potentially booking is extremely helpful. It is always useful to think of music that you definitely DON'T want played, and communicate that to your entertainment suppliers.

I hope that helps a little!! Rebecca, Les Trois Amies
