In many countries (but not all), the tradition of wearing an engagement ring on the fourth finger on the left hand, (the left ring finger on the ring finger guide below), can be traced back to the Ancient Romans. They believed this finger had a vein that ran directly to the heart, the Vena Amoris, meaning ‘vein of love’. With the heart at the centre of your emotions, this was thought to be the best finger to wear your engagement ring on. It showed to all the symbol of your Forever love and that your heart had been claimed by another.

Kind regards,

First of all, it's not in every country. For example, in Ukraine and Russan they wear wedding ring only on the right hand. But meaning just one:  Wedding Traditions.

The story behind left-ring positioning and whether you have to follow the rule of not. Plus, you one better and revealed the traditions behind the rings of engagement and hope.

It's all up to you, even n matter on which hand you will wear it even if you will get a tattoo on a finger as was long time ago. It's deep meaning "no beginning and no end" cirle metaphors a solid case for that.

Romance is not dead! Ancient Egyptians used to think there was a vein that ran straight from the heart to the ring finger on the left hand so couples in love would wear rings on that finger to let others know that they were coupled up- how romantic!

We've taken that as a tradition in our Western culture which is why we're doing it now.

But as with all traditions, there are always variations. In some North European and Indian cultures, the wedding ring is worn on the right hand.
