About
We're a family business! John Jurgs started Argyle Jewellers over 35 years ago and now we have a second generation designing with him. Maxwell Arbiter (John's stepson) works with John in designing our unique ranges. It doesn't stop there though, Sarah (wife to John, mother to Maxwell) runs the Marketing of Argyle Jewellers and "the girls" all design, display, merchandise and have a role in what goes into our store. We love what we do but we love that we do it together more.

FAQ
No! We prefer to design and manufacture a custom wedding ring for you. By manufacturing in your size we can be confident we're giving you the best quality item. A circle is the strongest structure but as soon as you play around with it by resizing it - you risk it becoming weaker. If you've got time on your side - let us make you a one off piece.
The design process is the fun part. We sit down with you, discuss your design options and where necessary we draw your design. We like 4 - 6 to manufacture but we're at our best under pressure so if you need it in half that time then we'll get it done.
This is a personal preference but to be honest, aside from the day of your wedding, there'll be few instances when the rings will be photographed together. Choose your metal based on what you wear better.
This beautiful tradition comes from Ancient Rome. The Romans believed that there is a vein which runs directly from our ring finger to our heart. Seems like a good enough reason to us!
That's where our experience is important. We can discuss metal options with you and together we can select the most suitable metal for your wedding band. We have a detailed knowledge of all metals including contemporary metals like Titanium, Cobalt, Graphite & Zirconium as well as traditional metals of Gold, Palladium & Platinum.

Get Expert AdviceWhat's the best way to choose and buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend?
I want to propose to my girlfriend with an actual engagement ring (not a proposal ring.) What's the best way to go about this? I've got a fair idea of design, but not sure how about size. I want it to be a surprise. Any advice welcome.

Hello ??
The best way to the get the perfect engagement ring for your partner is to have a consultation with a reputable jeweller - hopefully an independent and local jeweller. You'll find you get honest advice and are able to work with them on creating the perfect design piece. Don't fall into the trap of thinking you "can do better" online - it just won't happen. You won't get service after the sale, care plans or on-going support. Local, independent jewellers will always strive to give you the best deal and the best options for your budget.
In terms of finger size - this is always a problem with a surprise. If she wears jewellery it's a good idea to sneak out with one of her rings - noting which finger she wears it on and this can give you jeweller an indication of size. If she wears a ring on either ring finger but you can't get away with taking it for a few hours, pop it on one of your fingers and mark a dot (with a sharpy!) wear it sits and this can be used as an indication.
Hope this helps!! ??

Ideally when should we start shopping for our wedding rings?
How long does it take to make wedding bands?
Argyle Jewellers
As a manufacturing jeweller we specialise in custom wedding bands including the perfectly fitted band. Our custom range takes 6-8 weeks.
For our gents, we have the largest range in Queensland! We showcase all metals from Tingsten and Titanium through all the golds to Platinum 600 and pure Platinum. Turnaround for our gents ring is usually 4 weeks.
Allow plenty of time but don't make the mistake of leaving your wedding bands till last - they are your forever item! Your wedding rings last way past your special day so your wedding bands need to be top of your "to do" list.
My engagement ring is causing my skin to peel
I'm having some kind of reaction to my beautiful engagement ring. I adore the ring - but my skin has started peeling underneath :( I'm taking it off at night but it's not getting any better. I don't want to have to give up my ring! Is there anything I can do?
Argyle Jewellers
Hello,
That's no good at all! I'm assuming you're suffering from some form of Eczema? There are two possibilities that I can think of.
1) The ring is hollow underneath and it is catching sweat, water or other fluids. If this is the case, you might need to consider having it remade to eliminate the open area underneath the setting.
2) If it is white gold the jeweller may have used an amount of nickel in the white gold? We eliminated nickel from all our jewellery many years ago as it is an extremely common allergen. If this is the case, again, you'll need to have the ring remade.
Sorry not to offer you better options!
