Hi there. We are wondering what's the best way to word our wedding invitations when we are requesting a wishing well in lieu of gifts? We really want to be delicate with this.

It can be awkward, asking your guests to give you a gift of money as your wedding gift, instead of a traditional wrapped wedding gift. But feel assured it is becoming the norm to do this, especially as many couples already live together and have a houseful of things and don’t feel the need for anymore house hold gifts.
Most guests like to know what you may put the money towards. Knowing whether they're contributing to the happy couple’s dream purchase or some amazing experiences on their honeymoon makes all the difference!
It isn't polite to write your wishing well directly on your invite, especially on the front where you are inviting them. Try to put your 'Wishing Well', 'Gift Suggestion', or 'Note on Gifts' on a separate card. If budget is tight, pop it on the back and don’t forget to have a table set up at the reception, clearly marked where your guests can leave their money gift and to send your guests a thank you card, after all it is still a gift.
To help, we’ve put together a list of Wishing Well wording for you. Some are cute Wishing well poems, some are funny poems, and some are just polite way of asking for money gifts.
Our most popular one is this one
"YOUR PRESENCE IS THE BEST GIFT WE COULDEVER ASK FOR. HOWEVER, WE’VE BEEN ASKED WHAT WE MIGHT LIKE BY FRIENDS AND FAMILY, AND WE HAVE DECIDED ON A WISHING WELL TO PUT TOWARDS OUR FIRST HOME. THE WISHING WELL WILL BE AVAILABLE AT OUR RECEPTION ON THE NIGHT IF YOU CHOOSE TO HONOUR US WITH A GIFT."
We have a whole bunch on our website - https://paperandinkstudio.com.au/pages/wishing-well-wording
Hope this helps!

Hi!
I get plenty of different wording variations for this from my clients :)
The most common one is
"Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all.
However, should you wish to honour us with a gift,
a wishing well will be available at the reception
for your contribution and best wishes."
I think it is both polite and clear - I see this wording very regularly!
Hope that helps :)

Hello, thanks so much for sending in your question. A lot of couples have the same problem when it comes to wishing well requests!
There are so many variations that you can opt for which sound polite and respectful, I'll list some examples for you below:
- Your love laughter and company at our wedding is the greatest gift of all. Should you wish to honour us with a gift, a wishing well will be available.
- Your presence at our celebration is the greatest gift of all. However, if you wish to honour us with a gift, we would very much appreciate a donation to our wishing well.
You're welcome to send us an email at design@felicitations.com.au for a full wording booklet full of ideas!
Hope all this helps, all the best with your wedding planning :)
