OVERVIEW

Planning your wedding for the first time can be extremely daunting with most couples being overwhelmed at just the thought of it all.

I pride myself on taking you from clueless to clued-up when it comes to appreciating good quality wedding stationery.

Don't forget, your wedding invitations are the real 'first-look' of your big day and as the saying goes, first impressions last.

If you're all about the quality, all about the aesthetics and all about the care, i'm more than happy to help x

About

The first invitation I ever designed was for my 14th Birthday party. It took me 30 minutes using Microsoft word. It was black and white, I used a font called Curlz MT and it had an ugly border round the edges. I LOVED IT. Not just the invitation itself, but what it represented. A special token, for special people, who are coming to my special event.18 years later, I've invested in sharing those feelings (and MUCH better designs!) with other people. And still... I LOVE IT.

FAQ

For this question, I like to use the anology of going into a restaurant and asking the waitress how much it costs to eat here?

The answer varies dependent on exctaly what you want and from supplier to supplier.

When making an inquiry, please take into consideration whether you are having something unique designed for you, the quantity, whether you want a corresponding RSVP card, whether your envelopes will be printed or handwritten etc.

To get an accurate quote, when making your enquiry, try to include as much of the above information as possible.

This is often the case of tradition versus modernity. As an avid  traditionalist, the idea of sending a tangible and physical declaration to friends and family to mark one of life's biggest milestones seems appropriate.

On the otherhand, I recieve plenty of enquiries from clients requesting digital save the dates and RSVPs for their wedding websites. This is probably the best indicator of the popularity of going digital - it is more efficient and significantly reduces the cost.

The great thing about design, is that it can cater for both options!

If digital is for you, get in touch :)

Traditionally, wedding invitations are sent out with an RSVP card and self-addressed/stamped envelope.

With weddings now being more elaborate and the bride and groom wanting to create a fluid  and easy experience for their guests, invitations can also include any of the additional cards.

  • Details Card (can often cover a lot of the below)
  • Map
  • Reception Card
  • Gift Registry details
  • Accommodation Card

What should you write in a wedding card?

Signature Branding

This comes down to personal preference but the very stock standard invitations often have the  following structure:

1. Together with their families

2. Bride and Groom Name

3. Invite you to celebrate their wedding

4. Venue Name and Address

5.Date

6.Time

7.Some indication of the reception e.g Drinks and Dancing to Follow

8. Dress code (if applicable)

More couples are wanting to show their personality more through their invitation writing and so may add additional quirks such as "Lot's of sips and Lot's of dancing" etc.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

Karen

Do you use full names on invitations?

Signature Branding

I'd say this comes down to personal preference in relation to how formal you want to be or the actual design of the invitation itself.

I will say the majority I do are just the first names.

Hope that helps!

Thanks

I want luxurious invitations, how can I make them stand out?

Signature Branding

Luxuary invitations are about both the look and the feel. When it comes to creating luxe stationery, i'd say this is all about the printing technique and quality of card.

My preference when advising couples on printing is to go with Letterpress, Hot Foil or a combination of both on a really thick card stock - 400-600gsm.

Another trending alternative is to have them printed on Acrylic with your text etched into the material. These are definately a contemporary, yet luxurious option.

Hope that helps!
