Most invitations can be purchased with as little as 1 invitation for a sample. Some invitations such as letterpress or foil printing require minimums and cannot be sent as samples due to the initial high cost of design, materials and/or printing.
Invitations take approximately 2-3 weeks to despatch AFTER receipt of payment, guest list and approval of artwork. This does not include shipping time. If you have a large quantity of invitations or a more complicated design that requires speciality materials, it may take longer. You will be notified ahead of time.
1. Lava will send you a guest list spreadsheet to fill out your guests' addresses
2. Once that's done, Lava will invoice you for the correct amount. You can choose to pay a 50% deposit or the full amount at this stage.
3. Once the invoice is paid, Lava will begin working with you on the design and send you digital mock ups until you are happy with the formatting.
4. Once all the artwork has been confirmed and full invoice paid, the invitations will go into production. Production times are discussed with the client beforehand. Usually it's 1-3 weeks unless we are organising a special order item.
5. The invitations are all sent to you, unsealed so you can add extra items in the envelope (and check them over) before sealing and posting out.
Yes! All my designs are able to be changed according to your specifications. I can change the ribbon, card colour, designer paper, buckles, the shape of the card and more. I also create custom invitations from scratch according to your needs! If you have seen an invitation on the website and would like to change or even remove parts of it, please contact me and I can give you a quote on the new design.
Deposits are negotiated with the customer prior to ordering. Usually a 50% deposit is required to begin artwork and formatting. The final balance must be paid prior to production.
Yes! You can pick and choose products from the website (or point to other invitations that have inspired you) and most likely I will be able to make something similar for you. How does anyone plan a guest list for a wedding now when things can change so quickly? Do we need like an A, B and C list? Any advice is appreciated!
Lava Stationery
Planning a wedding during a global pandemic can be stressful and you might want to pull your hair out when it comes to your guest list.
However most wedding guests these days get it. They understand the stress and constant changing of restrictions because they have to deal with it in their personal lives too.
It's 100% ok to uninvite a guest due to COVID. If they care about you at all, they will understand.
Many couples have used the "A & B" list strategy long before COVID was ever thought of, so if you feel like this will help you with your planning, then you should definitely utilise it.
I've actually written a blog post about uninviting guests during COVID. If you'd like to read more about it, check it out at my website:

The perfect colours for summer invitations?
Lava Stationery
The most important thing to remember about your wedding invitations is that they should represent YOU and your personalities. I recommend ignoring the trends and do something that you will love for years to come.
However in saying that, popular summer colours are GREEN, gold and pinks. Anything bright and floral works beautifully for summer invitations. If you prefer dark and moody styles, then burgundy and navy are fantastic contrast colours, which you could use for the text or envelopes.
Although these seem like autumn shades, new trending colours are mustard and terracotta which will pair really well with greenery.
I advise my couples to start a Pinterest board for all your wedding inspiration. Pin anything that catches your eye that you love. You will notice a trend developing for yourself about what kind of colours and themes you like.

How does having divorced parents change the wedding invitations?
Lava Stationery
These days, there are more and more families with non-traditional ties.
To make your invitation wording more succinct, it's best to use the phrase "Together with our families"
This includes everyone on your invitation!
However if you want to include names separately, then there are some ideas on my blog:
