My suggestion would be to look at local MUA and hair stylist websites (not necessarily the same person for both) and see which looks you like. Then contact the artists and book a makeup and hair trial - bring pictures of what you would like to the trial. You can get inspiration from instagram or pinterest. Generally Makeup is around $100 per person and hair is anywhere from $50 - 100 per person. Make aure you are happy with your artist during the trial and take as much time as you need to create the look you want. Many talented artists are capable of creating almost any look you want and will also suggest what they think would look good on your skin and face shape. Airbrush makeup is often an additional cost as it requires a bit more time to apply and you new an airbrush machine - many MUAs provide airbrushing for weddings as it provides a flawless canvas and lasts all day. I suggest when searching for hair and makeup artists for your big day take the time to look for recent work photographs, reviews and social media and of course for styles the resonate and draw in your similar desires for the creation you want to achieve on your wedding day. You can also always request a trial to experiement.
Best thing is to look at wedding hair and makeup providers website and their style.

Its always hard to pick and choose when there are so many options out there.
I think its best to find someone that can understand what your looking for or who can give you the right direction and you feel comfortable with. Personality always plays a big part too. Its just a matter of doing your research and looking at what fits best for you and your style.
Hi Alexandra! How to choose your hair and makeup artist!!! First start looking for hairstyles and makeup that you love! ...Pinterest is a great place to start! Once you know what style you are after, check out Instagram and Facebook, here you can search pages of hairstylists and makeup artists and if you love their style of work, and can see the hairstyles or makeup that you would love and have a connection with that person's page.....time to contact them and go from there! Book a hair and makeup trial, to see how you like the makeup and hairstyle on yourself and for lots of other advice from your artist as well! Remember that hair and makeup is a very important part of the day everyone will have eyes on you all day, thousands of photogrpahs will be taken! So when you find the right hairstylist and make up artist for your special day, no matter what the price you pay, it is so worth it! xx

Hi Alexandra, it is very difficult to choose a hair and makeup artist as there are so many out there in the market place today. My best advice to you is to look at either their website or facebook page to see what their work is like. Then give them a call to chat about your wedding and discuss prices and what services they can offer you. With regards to the difference between traditional and airbrush makeup - the best way to describe it is traditional makeup is applied with a brush or sponge and airbrushing is applied with an airgun like a spray tan. Airbrush makeup is like a claytons makeup - the makeup you are wearing without wearing makeup. It is so light you can't feel it, but it covers like a dream. Ask your makeup artist for a sample of it at the trial.
I think firstly it is finding someone who has a style that you like... go through images on their website, fb and instagram pages. As well as this it is also important to find someone who you connect with and suits your personality as we are not only there to do your hair and makeup but we spend one of the biggest days of your life with you. So it is important to have some who you feel completely comfortable with, who will listen to you and will work with you.
In terms of airbrushing vs traditional the difference is very much in the finish. Think of spray painting a wall as opposed to using a brush or a roller. Not to say you can't create a beautiful traditional makeup but the finesse of airbrushed makeup is gorgeous and it does last so nicely on the day.
The best thing to do would be to look at the makeup artists or hair stylists recent work on their website, Facebook or Instagram pages to get a feel for the quality and style of work that they do and determine if is fits in with the look that you are after for your wedding day.

Great question Alexandra and yes it is a virtual mine field out there trying to pick suppliers. Firstly what is your style? have a look at the types of hair and makeup a provider does on their online portfolio and see if it suits you. What are the reviews and feedback like from past clients and do these resonate with what you are after? Price is a hard one but be prepared to pay anything as an average from $80 to $130 per service for a quality experienced provider.
Narrow it down to a few businesses and then get on the phone/email and start a dialouge. Tell them that you have no idea about the process and take notes on what they tell you, a Professional will always ask you lots of questions, listen and give you direction. It is so important that you do this so you have some different experiences to compare.
Regarding airbrush vs traditional it really depends on so many factors and an experienced stylist will go over all of this with you in a consultation or at the trial. Then trust your gut intuition and make sure you feel 100% confident and comfortable as you are spending a whole morning with the stylists and you want to be relaxed, pampered and most of all having fun. Good Luck.. Monique x
