OVERVIEW
I’ve trained in all aspects of makeup application, worked as a Makeup Artist for major brands including Ruby & Millie, Benefit and Jane Iredale, in the UK and Australia. I was also part of the Sara Phillips 2010 Sydney Fashion Week catwalk show as part of the Jane Iredale makeup team.
I’m as confident and professional making brides feel their best on their wedding day as I am designing a makeup concept for a photographic shoot. Any assignment can be planned to a ‘T’ and yet still the unexpected can occur. I pride myself on being calm and helpful and if a hair up needs rescuing or an extra dresser is needed then I’m always ready to assist.
I hope you enjoy a snap shot of some of my makeup work but rest assured that whatever you have in mind, I can help you achieve it.

Over the years I've worked with many brides, worried about covering spots, acne or controlling oil.
Having suffered with my skin in the past and worked for pure mineral makeup brand Jane Iredale, in the UK and Australia, I know the benefits of using a pure mineral brand.
Pure Mineral makeup is 100% natural, it lets your skin breath and therefore your skin doesn't have to fight back by producing more oil. Minerals are also 'inert' which means they were never living and therefore bacteria cannot live on them. This means your makeup won't become a breading ground for bacteria on your face or in your makeup.
The coverage is great, you won't feel or looked caked and if you continue to use this makeup every day, you'll find your skin problems reduce over time.

My maid of honour has chosen a hairstyle but the other two girls prefer somthin else will that still work if they have different hair styles

In my experience your bridesmaids can all have different hair and makeup that suits and compliments their face shape. Often different people have different hair types, which can also make it quite tricky to achieve the same look on all, i.e. if one has shorter fine hair it may be hard to put it up neatly or if one has dead straight hair and can't hold a curl, or one has curls that are hard to straighten. Typically it'll be the dresses that pull it all together.
You may also want to consider how much effort it'll take to achieve lots of different looks on the day and the time and cost involved?
If it's going to be very expensive and take up a lot of time getting them all ready, maybe discuss and agree some simple alternatives?
You don't want to be stressed on the big day because there are so many people to get ready and 'their' looks are challenging, at the end of the day, it is your big day and friends should be understanding and prepared to be flexible.
I hope that helps? Many thanks, Johanna
who usually pays for the bridesmaids hair and makeup?
in your experience
Johanna Peirce Makeup Artist
These days it can be a avriety of people who could pay for the bridesmaids hair and makeup.
Often the bridesmaids pay for this and I create packages which lower the overall cost depending on how many people are getting their hair & makeup done on the day. This way, often the bridesmaids split the cost of theirs and the brides hair and makeup, as a gift.
Otherwise, it can be the bride, the brides parents or the groom.
If people want to buy you a wedding gift, you could include this in your list or suggest it too.
Good luck with your planning and I hope your day is magical.
Many thanks, Johanna

Hi there,
I agree with the other comments that it depends on how many people you need to get ready but I'm guessing you mean, just you? If your ceremony is at 12pm then you'll want to start getting ready at 9am I would say. This way, you'll have plenty of time to get your hair and makeup done and get dressed, have some final touch ups, moments with your family/friends there with you and photographs.
It's always better to be ready a bit earlier if possible and with a 12.30pm ceremony at leat you don't need to get up at the crack of dawn (although you'll probably be too nervous to sleep anyway)
Good luck with the planning and I would suggest discussing timings with your HMUA person/team so everyone is clear on expectations and in agreement. :)
