About
I have been working in the industry since 2010 and absolutely LOVE what I do. If it's wedding, food, gardening or floral related, you will have my full attention! I have worked hard to create a brand that represents my own individual style and also brings with it honest values and standards that I hope my clients will appreciate. I aim to use products that have not been tested on animals and am always advocating for a better practice and use of such products within the industry.

Get Expert AdviceWhat's better - fake lashes or eyelash extensions?
Hi! Wondering what to do with my lashes for my wedding. Should I get eyelash extensions, or should I ask for false individual lashes? Is there a preference from a makeup artist's perspective too?
Do makeup artists generally travel?
Hi, we're considering a semi-rural wedding, but not wanting to limit our suppliers to just the town. How far do makeup artists generally travel without charging extra, and at what point would they charge a travel fee? Thank you!
Gamine Dynasty
Heya,
Yes, most hairstylists and makeup artists (actually most vendors) charge a travel fee usually based on distance or time spent travelling. There can also be parking charges, valet, early start fees etc.
Personally, if it's going to take me more than 60mins to get to the bridal party and I have to start driving earlier than 5.30am to get there on time, I also require modest accommodation for the night before for myself and other staff who are booked for the wedding to be paid for by the client. This is to assure that we get to the destination safely without driving tired and greatly lowering the risk of a roo jumping out (which has happened to me before I had the accommodation requirement).
Basically, if you would like to have a "destination wedding" and require vendors to travel / stay the night or two, add an additional $10-15k to your budget as a rough guide because it adds up very quickly.
I hope this helps and I wish you all the best.
Will Hollywood curls last the night?
I really love the long Hollywood curls but honestly, do they fall out by the end of the night? Or are there certain hair types that this is better for? I want to wear my hair out.
Gamine Dynasty
This can be a hard question to answer without seeing you in person. Everyone's hair is different and therefore responds better to some hairstyles than others. A Hollywood wave is a stunning look but if not done properly, it won't hold or last.
I would suggest finding a stylist that has examples of the style you are looking for on their Instagram or portfolio and book a trial with them.
Handy hint - You get better bounce with a Hollywood wave if it is layered and not weighed down so think about heading to the hairdressers to get heavy hair thinned out, texturised, and layered before you trial appointments.
Also, extensions can be a great way to help support finer hair that doesn't hold anything in a brisque wind.

Hola *waving* Hope you are having a great day.
From my experience and talking to many other makeup artists, most will tend to have a preference for applying their own lashes to their clients. I, myself, prefer individuals as I can create a more custom look to each person than a strip and I find they stay on better.
The reason being:
• You can't always trust that another beauty professional is going to be aligned with what you and the client have discussed for their look.
• You can't trust that they will use quality materials or that they will be applied correctly and for longevity.
• The amount of times that a client has had extensions applied a couple of days prior and then asks me to fill in the gaps where some have fallen is beyond ridiculous.
On another note, we also tend to thoroughly dislike lash lifts because more often then not, trying to apply our lashes on top of a lash lift is equivalent to trying to get a square peg in a round hole.
Now don't get me wrong, I will work with whatever is thrown at me and I know that there are some amazing lash techs that genuinely do an amazing job and really put their client's lash health above generating income but they are a rare breed. Personally, if I can recommend whether extensions or faux lashes, I'm going to always recommend that I have control for my clients wedding day look as that is what I'm hired to do.
