What flowers would you recommend for a native Australian bouquet?

I'm wanting to go with beautiful native Australian flowers for the bouquets and decorations whether that be centre pieces etc. I'm wanting bright - burgundy, yellow, orange, pinks and greens. What flowers and greenery would you suggest?

I have used in the past proteas, leucadendrums, waxflower, eucalyptus, blushing bride flowers.  Many other varieties such as flannel flower, banksia, thryptomene, kangaroo paw and dyandra can be used.  Eriostemon is a lovely pink coloured filler flower but is only available in September.

There are an amazing selection of natives in winter and spring, the colours are bold and incredibly beautiful. The proteas, dark red and varigated katies blush leucadrons can be used alongside perfumed flowers like roses, stocks, freesias and pops of bright yellow billy buttons with fresh silver spinning gum. Your bouquets can be make to look so stunning and then of course you can dry them and then keep them for ever. Hi I recommend green brunias, variegated yellow and burgundy leucadendrons, pink blushing brides, hypericum berries (green, pink or red), happy or cordyline leaves for accents, weeping acacias etc. Hope you have a very beautiful wedding! Cheers. Sophia Kueh Flowers

Leucadendron in burgundy, protea, amaranths in burgundy (looks great with south african/australian flowers) blushing bride might be available

coccinea are orange? you might get straw flower which have yellow and orange flowers, a yellow wax flower? maybe yellow wattle, depending on weather. green trick can also look great with natives, it all depends on what look your trying to achieve? if you have a photo of the design your after i can research the best flower choice to get a similar look with whats in season at the time of your wedding.

if you want purely Australian native there are banksia, kangaroo paw, Erica and plenty of beautiful eucalupytus available that can be mixed with leucadendron and proteas that are from the same species family but are not native to Australia. All available at the time that you are getting married.

So many beautiful natives to choose from. Like the other florists have mentioned the King Proteas, Flannel Flower, Leucadendron are just beautiful options for bouquets, Waratahs are more suitable for table designs as they are much heavier. In relation to greenery you have so many options including many different Eucalyptus, Emu Bush and Adenanthos.

There should be a great selection_ the best time for natives is late winter early spring- a large variety do come from western australia

there are also south african natives like protea and leucadendron that many people think are australian natives that work very well with australian natives-

kangaroo paw ,waratah, flannel flower, pinwheel, silvan red ,protea- just to name a few.

Your professional wedding floral designer should be able to discuss varieties that are available with you.
