About
Hello, My name is Kerilyn. I grew up in Sydney and at 16 left school & got an apprenticeship with a large florist. I spent many mornings and years at the markets. The buzz and excitement of choosing flowers became part of my life. I worked my way up to a shop assistant, a manager, then opened my own business specializing in weddings. Flowers are my love, and to this day this career is my passion! My mantra, from a small affair to an extravagant event, I will bring your dreams to life!!

What are the best flowers? What should I not use?
Lavish Floral Design Gold Coast
Don't attempt to do your own flowers. You may think it's easy and simple but flowers are growing things.
They can look fresh but aren't, even from a market. They can die within hours, needed to be hydrated in different ways,
are very temperamental with different climates. Most need to be purchased 5 days prior, open naturally and kept in a cool room.
Don't get your flowers delivered too early on the day. The longer they are in a coolroom at the right temp, the longer you will have them
on the day/ night. Don't choose your florist on price. I know that everyone has a budget, but cheapest is definitely not always best.
Find a supplier who has experience, will talk to you not just email, look at their real wedding work, and you feel comfortable with.
This is one of the biggest days of your life, your photos are your memories, your flowers are so important, choose wisely.
Do's , take the time to look at a lot of themes to see what you love. There are many trends but you are best to have what suits
your personality. Do think about the season. If you are set on a certain flower or colour make sure it's available. Do allow enough
money for your dream to come to life. When the drinks are drunk and the food is eaten, there is your memories, the photos and
videos and what's in them. Do have the best time, choose what you love , choose the vendors with excitement to work with you !
Is January a hard date for flowers to be supplied for a wedding?
Hello! My partner & I are getting married in Byron Bay and hoping for 11 Jan 2025. We have been told my a florist that flowers around that time are hard to get as wholesalers close normally until 14 January. We are wondering whether we should change our wedding date because we’d love to have some gorgeous flowers for the day and not a limited supply and ones that doesn’t match our colours & make us feel fab. I am not particular about type of flowers more style of bouquet and colours. The florist we have spoken to can’t really tell us either way if anything will be available and we feel is more focused on booking us than helping us be realistic. Your advice is appreciated!
Lavish Floral Design Gold Coast
Hello, yes January is a very hard time to get flowers for weddings. Most of the growers and farms
are not back in full supply and imports and also hard to source due to the lack of freight space
on airlines. The weather is also very hot and flowers don't cope well. I would not choose January
or February as the prices are inflated due to Valentine's Day. The florals make the day, it's important
to choose a season that your favourites are in bloom!
What's involved in having a floral ceiling installation?
Hi team. We're enquiring about having a floral ceiling installation for our wedding. What extra costs or considerations are there to get the flowers up on the ceiling? How long do we need to factor in setup time and removal with the venue?
Lavish Floral Design Gold Coast
If you are considering an instillation it depends on the height of the ceiling and if there are beams for the structure to be attached for a start.
Ask the venue manager if they have had them before, and have pictures to show you. When choosing your florist, some will provide this service and
some will get a rigging company to provide the beam or structure and they will provide the florals and attach them on site for you. Prices are
varied depending on the work involved to suspend the flowers,if machinery is involved and how big you want the arrangement. We do complete instillations ourselves in some venues and use a rigging company in others. A complete setup can be between 2 hours and 6 hours, an hour for pull down the next day.
