Hello, if your wedding will most likely be on a hot summers day we would suggest to get your garment made from Silk. this is a natural fabric which allows breathability and will keep you cooler. You could also opt for some accessories like a parasol or fan to assist.

I'm a fabric lover and for me the most vital thing for comfort is wearing a natural, breathable fabric like silk on a hot day. It's 100% natural, light weight and lets the air through, so If you're getting married in a hot climate, the best thing you can do is make sure you're ordering a silk wedding dress, also ask what the lining is made of and if it breathes. I know budget doesn't always allow for this, but if you can afford it, it's so lovely and light to wear. Ask lot's of questions when your shopping, as most wedding dresses are made of polyester which is on par with wearing a plastic raincoat....Silk comes woven into many fabric types for all styles of designs, but so does polyester, so ask not only what the fabric type (the weave) is when ordering your gown, but more importantly if it is woven from silk or a synthetic, for example Mikado comes in 100% silk, 100% polyester/synthetic or a mix, as does satin, crepe or organza which can be a trap if you don't check. Good luck and enjoy your day, Louise.

Hi

The best fabrics are  natural ones, silk and cotton. If you haven't purchased your dress yet, think about a style that is lighter and has less layers with maybe a plunging v ,open back etc. Having your hair in an updo will keep your neck cool. If you also have a bridesmaid nearby to gently fan you , that would be ideal.

Keeping everything simple and light is key.All the best:)

Hi

If you haven't chosen your dress I highly recommend a natural fabric such as silk or cotton for your dress as they are breathable and will make all the difference in the heat of the day.

Exerpt from my latest blog on Natural Fabrics "Silk comes in many different forms, such as silk satin, silk tulle, silk lace, silk crepe, silk organza, silk georgette, silk chiffon and silk taffeta, to name a few."

Silk's 5 main benefits are:

  • Breathable
  • Absorbent
  • Sustainable
  • Luxurious lustre
  • Easy to dye.

More to read in my blog on the benefits of Cotton.

Hope this helps,

Try wearing a small hoop under your dress. Especially if the dress has lots of layers. A single hoop should not add extra poof but keep the dress in perfect place all day. Added advantage air under your dress. Still waiting for someone to invent a little fan to wear ??
