Your second dress can be simple and elegant but a great idea if you want comfort. My daughter had 2 dresses as her first dress had a massive train. Cost of 2 dresses could be a factor of what choices you make for your main dress. Extra alteration cost.

Hiya!

Such a great question as we have quite a few brides ask us this in store!

Pro's:
- You get to wear 2 beautiful gowns on your wedding day

- There will be no need to pay for a bustle on your first gown

- Your guests get a beautiful surprise at your reception

- You may be more comfortable, if you are planning on wearing a princess gown during your ceremony then a knee length gown for your reception you might be able to move around a little bit better during the night and you'll get to use the bathroom without the help of your bridesmaids!

Con's:
- The cost of not only both gowns but also alterations of both gowns

- Maybe additional stress of waiting for one gown to arrive, if one gowns arrives before another it might cause a little bit of stress while you wait for the other one.

Hope this helps!

This is difficult question as it would have to be applied not just to a bride but also to the style of the wedding. Small or quick wedding would not have a call for dress change, where the wedding that goes for full day and well in to the night might have a benefits of changing, eg: Church wedding ceremony would call for more conservative wedding gown but later for reception Party, bride would want wear something lighter or shorter. This is something I discuss with my clients in the initial consultation to find most suitable aproach. Some comunities have weddings going for a few days and then you have to have dress changes.

Early last Century weddings were rather small and Bride and Groom would leave a party early for their Honeymoon so they would change into "going away" outfits. Today we have less restrictions so I advice my clients to be happy first of all with their wedding choices and have fun with their wedding rather than stress.

Hi there!

I love this idea & also did this for my own wedding!

Pros

- no need to make a decision if you're torn between 2 gowns, wear them both!

-can make gown for reception a comfortable one to dance and get around in.

-dress for ceremony & photos can be hemmed to wearing a high shoe and then the comfy party dress can be hemmed for flats so your feet are up for dancing all night long!

-it makes you a diva!!!

Cons

-The expense. Depending on the second dress it can end up being costly.

There are no other cons, it's a fabulous idea!

Best of luck to you xx
