"I went to d’Italia with a dress in mind. The ladies helped to draw it up and pick the exact fabrics that would create my dream dress and suit my figure. I was paired with the most wonderful couturier who I had the most amazing time watching this dress come to life with. In trusting her, and the process of designing my own dress, what I ended up with far exceeded all expectations." - Jessie. T

FAQ
Not at all – the dressmakers' experience makes them an excellent source for suggestions. Customers only need have a basic idea of what they are after, (which is worked out with d'Italia's consultants) as the dressmakers' studios have many fashion books and pictures to help fine-tune their ideas, plus they all store images of past creations on their computers. It is usual for them to work off the design sketches from d'Italia, and then in the process of fittings, the design is fine tuned on the body. The dressmakers make their own patterns, regardless of whether they are making something from a sketch, from a photo or copying an existing garment - so it is completely unnecessary to take patterns to them.
A design is often best left to develop on the body, which is actually what couture is. It is easy for d'Italia's consultants to calculate know how much fabric is required for a basic design, after which you may request for a referral to a dressmaker. After the making of the garment has commenced, there are many stages where the design can be tweaked along the way - so you will end up with a completely unique and individual style, custom-made for you! Although this requires a fair amount of faith in the dressmaker's talents, it is the most creative way to make something amazing. After having "settled in" with a seamstress by having had a number of garments made by her in the past, many regular customers eventually trust their dressmaker to help them create styles individually for them. A personal relationship develops between customer and dressmaker - one based on familiarity and understanding...

Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry to us, via the Easy weddings online bridal registry.
We would love to go through everything you’d like to know.
We specialise in custom making exactly what you want for a fraction of the cost of bought dresses. Because of this, we are heavily booked already well into next year and are currently taking bookings for weddings dated late 2018 to 2019.
If your wedding is before end of this year there may still be a chance that we could assist in the planning of a custom made gown for you, but this depends greatly on how soon you make contact with us first.
So please call us directly right away to discuss the ins and outs of what we do here, how much it may cost according to the style of gown you have in mind, and how to go about it.
Looking forward to your call ASAP,
Shuchi

How far off from the wedding date should I start looking for dresses?
I have no idea when to start looking for my dream dress. I'm someone who is well organised and ideally I'm trying to have everything for the big day sorted 12 - 8 months prior to the date however I'm stuck on when to start looking for my dress. I'm worried that if I leave it too close to the date then I'll stress out and rush the process and then on the other hand I'm worried I pick too early and want to change the dress.!! I might add that I also hate shopping and can never decide on things from clothes to dinner ha! Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Samantha,
This may surprise you – but we are already taking bookings for Mid 2018 onwards…!
As we only specialise in custom made dresses, all made from scratch here in Melbourne, so we do require a longer timeframe.
So when it comes to securing one of our top bridal makers, its all about locking in your spot with one of them to make your gown at THAT future time – it never starts until a few months before the wedding, but due our reputation brides are now booking them out so far in advance.
It is all about being super organised in advance – just by knowing what basic style you want and choosing the fabric with us to make it now – and then it all sits on hold and the work begins when it should and because of this if you do want to make a few minor changes as time goes on you can do so.
Our couturiers always do a mockup dress way before starting with you final one. All the work is spread out and small baby steps so you will have full control of what your dress is turning out to be every step of the way.
Spots are so limited as we have only four bridal couturiers dedicated to creating just bridal gowns, and they will not take any more than 2-4 bookings per month.
I hope this all makes sense, and for that reason I urge you to get in contact with us if you are even vaguely interested in going down the ultimate path of custom making your gown. Its all a lot simpler than it may seem, a lot more personal and fun, and almost always a lot less expensive.
So definitely not leave it until the last few months to book in. If you are confident with just the basic shape then book an appointment and we can help you with the other style details in creating a classic, timeless design that is suitable for you body and personality.
Please contact us for more information.
Kind regards – Suzanna & Pala : )

If you do purchase a dress off the rack you will need to pay for alteration as it will be not your size. This cost will be additonal ontop of purchasing your wedding dress. However if you opt for custom making then you can have the perfect fit, as it will be made from scratch for your body measurements. Made to measure or custom making is definitely a better option.
