I can never thank Gill, Anne and Ellen enough for creating my dream wedding dress for me! From my first enquiry (where I was quite specific) to the final fitting I always felt confident that we were on the same page and that it would be nothing less than perfect. They helped me work through a few road blocks and the dress changed a little through the process but the end result was absolutely stunning. I felt so much like "me" on my wedding day wearing that dress! The team were phenomenal and such lovely people, I'll really miss going to those dress fitting appointments! Where do I begin... Anne Bertossi and her amazing team delivered good old fashioned service with a smile. I found them by chance, I flew to Brisbane to have a fitting with another designer who I had decided was going to make my dress. I stumbled across this beautiful boutique in Paddington on my way to that appointment (Which also turned out to be a sad experience). I returned to Paddington Weddings and it was the rest was history. Gill dealt with me on the day and she was just a delight. She helped me design and create my own gown from bit and pieces that I loved on others. Nothing was too difficult. (Might I add, I also had NO booking this day). My following fittings were with Anne and she was just as beautiful and accommodating. The dress turned out better than I could have imagained.

Anne and Jill were nothing short of a blessing! I met them with my best friend who was looking for her dress and found it with them. As I stood by her on her wedding day she was comfortable and flawless in her wedding dress. So when it came to my wedding day I knew I would have to try them out first. I was able to pick and choose every step of the way with what I would like for my dress and they were always flexible and accommodating. How to travel with your wedding gown for a destination wedding

Hello, I'm getting married in Thailand in late 2023... starting to think about my wedding dress and wondered what's the best way to travel overseas with it, if you had any tips about packing it in my luggage, and then storage/care for it once I arrive? Thank you!

Hi there

How exciting that destination weddings are happening again! We recommend our gowns are taken on as hand luggage in the bridal bag and ask the crew on board to hang the gown with the suits onboard. We have been told that if there is a spare seat on board the crew will often lay it over a seat for you too. I wouldn't check it in just incase your bag is lost on the way. When you arrive hanging the gown straight away is very important and talk to the hotel you are staying in about if they have a steaming service or maybe bring along a travel hand steamer incase you need it. With our gowns we find hanging the gown for a few days outside of the bag on arrival generally deals with any creasing that may have happened on the trip.

Is it cheaper to buy a dress and get it altered or have it made from scratch?

I was surprised that the alterations quote for a dress I was looking at came in at $500... now I'm thinking is it better to have a dress made?

At Paddington Weddings we create our own gowns and offer an alterations service so we see both sides of this. If you are lucky enough to be a fairly standard size, bust, waist and hips then off the rack with a few small adjustments are fine but often we find brides who have purchased a gown that needs to be taken apart and remade to fit, this can be very expensive and some issues are impossible to fix. Also if you are trying to change the actual design, remodelling or adding to the dress this can also be very expensive as it takes a lot of time.

It is important to know if your gown is being made to your actual measurements or do you have to factor in alterations charges. The average price to alter a gown including the hem would be around $600 with many being more like $800.

Make sure you seek advice and know the alterations are possible, never purchase a gown that is too small in hope you will drop weight as letting out is often impossible but you also don't want to order a gown that needs taking in more than 2 sizes as the whole shape and width of the gown will be too wide for you, these are things that are very costly to fix.
