My cousin has a whole host of allergies. How do caterers handle this? Should I ask her if she feels more comfortable bringing her own food?

Firstly advise your caterer of the specific allergies and from there we would work together to ensure all your guests can enjoy delicious food, safely. In the past I have catered for a number of different allergies and dietary requirements and I explain to the clients that their food is prepared safely and presented on the grazing table away from contamination of other foods.
We have an inhouse nutritionist that works with our brides to provide a meal for the gusets to a similar standard/quality as the meal the other guests are having. We hold the meal espically for the guest, there is a small surcharge. If your caterer cannot provide this service, I would seriously be looking for alternative caterers. Your cousin is a guest at your wedding, she should have the same quality service and should not need to bring her own food.

Here at Woodfire Desire, we communicate with the couple about their guests with dietary requirements. We then ask that the MC include an announcement for those with dietary requirements to come and see us so we can cater for them individually. Fortunately with pizza catering, most dietary requirements are fairly straight forward and easy to cater for.
When you get your final Dietary Requirements List from your client, address each guest indivually... All Guests are important and should made not made to feel like they are a burden or missing out on anthing...
Guests with very tricky Allergies should be a priority... I always ask my Couples if they would like me to correnspond with the Guest and chat one on one on exactly what they can have and what they cant have... it works perfectly... Couple is happy, Guest is surprised at the service and not worried about what they are to receive and I'm happy because of course, being fully prepared in the kitchen is the key to success and less grey hairs....
Hi there
At Nutmeg and Pepper Catering we offer handcrafted, organic and local sourced products - we are able to control exactly what goes into each item that is created for every event. Everything is cooked fresh the night before or the morning of your event.
With our Menus we ask that you choose your preferences and leave the dietary up to us.
10 days before your Wedding Reception we will ask for the Name of each person that requires dietary and their needs. On the day of the wedding we will utilise your seating chart to find them (for the stand and eat we ask that the MC or a Bridal party member please point out your guests with Dietary and they are served separately to the remaining guests to ensure no contamination or confusion of Menu.)
Hope this helps... please feel free to phone or email us here at Nutmeg and Pepper Catering if you wish to chat personally about your needs.

Hi, when anyone has allergies we would discuss exactly what type of allergies and develop a meal and process to ensure that no cross contamination would occur. a guest should never have to bring their own food to function. all it takes is good communication and planning prior to the event.
Our chefs can provide any diet or allergy request. We discuss this with our clients prior to the event to determine the number of guests with dietary and allergy requirements. We make sure that the guest have peace of mind that the food that they'll recive meets their requirement and satisfaction.
At HC Catering when it comes time for finlaising things, we discuss with our client, how many dietary guests they have and then we plan food suitable for each person, for a small surcharge. We communicate with each of those guests the day prior so they can have peace of mind before they even turn up, that they will get food suited to their requirement and won't go hungry at your event.
Our chefs can provide any diet request, this is diwscussed the week of the function or a meeting can be arranged to discuss.
As buffet caterers we hold the specisl dish until the guest asks for the item,

Qualified chefs have no trouble handling allergies. Please give your chef as much notice as possible and details regarding the allergies. Also, please provide your caterer with the name of the guest and where they will be sitting. This will allow you to cater for their allergies.
