OVERVIEW
Fat Cats Food Van and Fancy Catering offer menus and catering packages to suit all wedding reception styles. Whether you're going for a food van festival vibe or a more fancy sit-down, buffet or cocktail reception, we've got you sorted.
As well as offering a variety of wedding catering menus and serving options, we are super flexible and accommodating to your wants and needs. Our focus on customer service is obvious from the get-go.
We pride ourselves on offering something a bit different. Even our most wedding'y menu is not your typical wedding food. Think delicious juicy slow-cooked meats, and super fresh, flavoursome and interesting salads and sides. Our carefully curated selection of canapes is designed to suit the coolest of cool casual weddings or the fanciest of fancy affairs. And of course, festival food truck style wedding catering is a specialty of ours.
Most importantly, we take the fuss out of the planning for you. As a mobile food van wedding catering service, we're open to travelling far and wide across Melbourne and Victoria.
About
Our head chef and Top Cat Adrian has been obsessed with cooking since first helping his mum out in the kitchen as a little tucker. His obsession with food ultimately led him to create Fat Cats food van and fancy catering in 2013, a unique Melbourne-based mobile wedding and other event catering service. Adrian brings personality plus and an amazingly flexible positive can-do attitude to everything he does.

FAQ
Our mobile food van can park on all private property and some public spaces where we can obtain a permit. Let us know your precise location and we’ll go from there. FYI - the van is 3.15m high, 1.95m wide and 5.3m long. We provide catering with or without the van, so if you don't think it will fit your space we would still love to serve you. See more info on our other options below.
Once we arrive it takes around 30 minutes to an hour for us to get set up and cooking! We can serve up to 100 guests per hour of service, but will work with your schedule. If you have a kitchen space available at your venue, we can speed up our service and cook more in less time (see below).
We also have an awesome branded gazebo (3 x 3 metre tent) that we cook and serve from. We bring along all our mobile catering equipment so we can cook just as efficiently as with our food van. We just need access to power or can bring along our generator. This is a great option if your property doesn't haven't the right access for our van.
Often when we cater a big event at a hired function space or private property (e.g. a wedding), we don't need to necessarily bring our food van or food stall. If your venue has an on-site kitchen that we can use, we can do big scale catering for weddings and any other events. But often we bring the van along as well as extra kitchen space.
We like to take the stress out of your hands and ensure you have minimal streams of organisation to attend to in preparation for your big day. We offer wait-staff, and hire of plates, serving ware and cutlery (or complimentary disposable ones). We will quote you on these when you enquire.
We love getting on the road and often take our catering service to the wider Melbourne region, travelling across Victoria. There may be a small travel fee, depending on the location. Get in touch to discuss further.
There is no food van hire fee, but we have a minimum spend of $800 - $1000 (depending on the time of year). This can be made up with items from one of our menus. Contact us for a personalised quote.

Expert Advice
As a wedding professional, Fat Cats - Food Van and Fancy Catering offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.
Get Expert AdviceIs it acceptable to offer these drink choices?
1: 3/4 types of beer 2. One type of cider 3. Red wine 4. White wine 5. Moscato 6. Tequila 7. Soft drinks (coke, coke zero, lemonade, OJ) 8. Still and Sparking water 9. Champagne Is this enough?
Is it rude to ask guests to pay for their meal?
I personally find it rude, but a wedding I am invited to has done this
Fat Cats - Food Van and Fancy Catering
Although I can totally understand where you're coming from (I felt the same about my own wedding believe me)! I don't think it's possible to ask your guests to pay for their own meal. But maybe you could have a wishing well rather than gifts, that way most at least pay back for their meal :-)
Cheers,
Adrian - Fat Cats Van
What is your preferred dining style?
Not sure whether to do buffet, food truck style, sit down on cocktail! They all have their benefits and this is the one thing I am vague on
Fat Cats - Food Van and Fancy Catering
We love serving guests sit-down meals share plates style. So say you have tables of 8, you'd have 2 x each of the dishes on shared plates. This is a super sociable way of serving people.
Although, it does depend on your guests list. e.g. if you have a predominanlty young people's wedding (heaps of friends, not as many older people), cocktail is pretty fun! People can mingle more.
We offer heaps of different menus for all types of dining styles - buffet (our Fancy Lunch Spread), food truck (Taco Feast and Festival Dinner) and cocktail (Fancy Cocktail and Fancier Cocktail party). We also do a Wedding Shared Plates menu as I said. If you like, check out our website or Easy weddings profile for more details on our menus: fatcatsvan.com.au
Cheers!
