The matcha cake was AMAZING. Best wedding cake I've ever had. Multiple guests asked me where I got it.

Awesome! Reasonable price, delicious cakes made from ethically sourced ingredients. Eliza also runs a Cake Mail service where she mails you slices of different cakes and you can taste each of them and decide what you want.

Eliza was really good to deal with in the process of planning the wedding cake and I didn't have to give her too much instruction and she also asked all the right questions. She wanted to know what my criteria was.

is it possible to diy my catering?

Creative Hunger

You need to ask "why" you are thinking of DIY-ing your catering.

Is it budgetary? Do you think that caterers charge too much for their food and services?

Is it because you want your wedding to be really relaxed, like a backyard bbq or a picnic?

What you are paying for in getting a caterer to look after your event, is their expertise. We understand how weddings run. We anticipate any issues and find solutions for them on your behalf, so you don't have to. We prepare all the food, present it, serve your guests, clean up and generally ensure that you, your family and guests are taken care of so you can all enjoy this special day.

If you DIY it, who will get everything set-up for you? Drinks chilled. Glassware out. Tables set. Food prepared.

Who will greet your guests on arrival; arrange a drink for them and give them any assistance they may require?

Who will guide them to the bathrooms, where to put gifts, where to hang their coat?

Who will look after your guests whilst you're away having photos with your family so you can return to happy guests? (and a waiting glass of champagne or other drink?)

Who will ensure everything is ready for your speeches and the cake cutting, and keeping your day running on-time?

It's these small touches that ensure your wedding day runs smoothly and that's what caterers do! It is an emotional day, especially for the couples and their family, and we are here to make it as stress-free as possible.

Caterers will also ensure that there is enough food, that it is suitable for consumption and a good selection to satisfy your guests. You don't want guests getting sick from the food served!

If you have guests with dietary requirements, we will find them and ensure they are taken care and fed items suitable for their dietary restrictions.

We will guide you through the process of choosing what will be best for your day and ensure that it is all taken care of for you.

Good luck!

is the wedding toast always champagne?? what do we toast with at a dry wedding

Creative Hunger

The wedding toast is commmonly some sort of sparkling, but this does not mean you have to follow this trend.

For a dry wedding, I would suggest making a signature mocktail that yourself and your guests can have to toast your wedding. Or offer a couple of options for everyone to enjoy during the reception.

Making it seasonal, fun and fresh (especially for a summer wedding!), everyone will love them.

Decorate with some fresh fruits, herbs and/or edible blooms with a personalised swizzle stick and straw.

And the bonus is, they look fabulous in photos!

What are some unique catering ideas for my wedding?

I am not interested in a sit down style meal, and I hate buffets. Is there other ways to do this? The only one the interests me so far is food trucks, but can they feed 200 at once?! Should I have a few? Do most venues allow food trucks?

Creative Hunger

Hi Christen H,

It all really comes down to what you envisage for your wedding day. Things to consider are what type/ style of service do you want? Do you want it to be really relaxed, where guests kind of 'sort themselves out', or do you want to be taken care of a little more with roaming food and beverage service?

Also, what are the limitations of your chosen venue? How will these considerations impact the way your wedding can be serviced?

A roaming canapé-style function as a meal substitute sounds like a good solution for you. This can be a combination of standard canapés and/or substantial canapés paired with perhaps some roaming small plates and/or a grazing table. Desserts can also be roamed around or set-up as a dessert table. This is a much more modern approach to wedding catering that still ensures a high quality of service for your wedding day.

I hope this helps!

Christen H
