Highlights of working with Kombi Love Melbourne:
About
Garry started Kombi Love back in 2009 when most wedding cars were real vintage, from a bygone era, or modern limos. He saw a niche for a more contemporary offering using beautifully restored and truly authentic Volkswagen Kombi vans. George and Mildred soon became the talk of the town as they brought fun and theatre to Melbourne's wedding scene. Today Kombi Love has attended 1500+ weddings and is co-owned with John Farlow, a friend, and fellow Volkswagen enthusiast. They both love weddings!

Kombi Love has an exclusive fleet of 2 vehicles. One is named George and the other Mildred, named after the famous UK comedy series of the 1970s. Both are multi-award winning having scooped consecutive 'Best in Class' awards at 'Day of the Volkswagen'. They are arguable the best of their type in Australia.
They are Type 2a Microbus Deluxe models manufactured between 1970 and 1971. A quirky model, these love buses are within Volkswagen circles referred to as 'Low-lights' that refer to the positioning of their indicators. They have a cult following and feature in Lego models and are adored by connoisseurs of the marque. They are indeed thoroughbreds!
Kombi Love believes that the 'Standard' shouldn't require any gimmicks. Premium champagne, with flutes and chilled mineral water, is therefore served as 'The Standard' for couples and guests to enjoy.

Expert Advice
As a wedding professional, Kombi Love offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.
Get Expert AdviceCan we request a specific route for our wedding car to take?
Hi, wondering if this is a reasonable or usual request of our wedding car drivers?
Kombi Love
Very much so and routes can be quite specific as was the case with a showbiz client that requested specific laneways between their offices and a famous restaurant. Needing to keep a low profile.
Routes will typically be researched prior to events to ensure timeliness and safety are maintained. This might involve avoiding major event routes E.g., AFL, and AO, that might delay travel.
Some suppliers might also wish to avoid unsealed roads due to low vehicle clearance or the vintage nature of their cars. As an aside, it's also advisable to make sure bridal couples are aware of intended routes to set expectations and to make journeys enjoyable, without unknown twists and turns. It's also advisable to avoid tramways due to uneven road surfaces and possible delays.
What happens if our chauffeur is sick on the wedding day?
G'day, curious what happens if our driver is unwell on our wedding day or our car isn't working on the day. Are there contingency plans for this sort of thing?
Kombi Love
Good question especially given the challenges that some businesses face finding well-trained and reliable chauffeurs.
Professional suppliers have a risk mitigation plan for such events, especially after Covid-19. Given the important nature of wedding transport, it's always advisable to consider the professionalism of a supplier. Look at reviews and do your own due diligence to make an informed decision.
In the case of Kombi Love, John and I are co-owners and have a Kombi each. George and Mildred are their names. Both vehicles are matching in colour and also every detail. We are familiar with one another's Kombi and are able to provide alternative chauffeuring in the case of illness. We further have trained chauffeurs who are able to cover in the case of planned absences.
Problems often occur with businesses based upon directory models where vehicles and chauffeur availability can be unknown. Boutique and personal are sometimes best. But like most things, it's a personal choice. A vehicle breakdown is another good question to ask about.
So in summary, always ask the question and do your own due diligence. It's your 'Very' special day and leave nothing to chance.
When's the best time to choose our wedding cars?
Kombi Love
When you're sure of the date, bridal party numbers (even an estimate), and have a style in mind. Duration of hire can typically be modified providing requests are made in a timely fashion and that any minimum hire periods are recognised. And where unique vehicles, colours and combinations are concerned try to prioritise reserving your cars. Happy hunting ??
