Get Expert Adviceare naked cakes cheaper than other wedding cakes?
Celebration Cakes
Hi Rosanna,
Yes naked/semi naked cakes are generally cheaper then the traditional fondant finished cakes, getting your florist to supply some extra flowers for the cake will also help keep the cost down and it looks fantastic.
if i have a small wedding cake, do i have to buy another bigger cake to cut up and give out?
Celebration Cakes
Some people like to give their guests a slice of cake each when they leave, a bit like a bonboniere, we find there are very few couples who choose to do this these days, it was big for us in the 90's instead they prefer to give their guests a little personalised gift, like chocolates, candy, little pot plants etc.
I would recommend if you want to do this then have a kitchen cake ordered along with your main display cake, its iced the same, can cost a lot less then a tiered wedding cake and is easier to cut into nice coffee portions to bag.

Its hard to say, I think having a cake, then the cutting ceremony together is very steeped in tradition, hence most people will still have a cake these days.
In saying that it's your special day to make as you want it, not others, so do what you and your partner want to do!
Good luck : )
