At Heidelberg Cakes we have been making beautiful, elegant wedding cakes since 1991. Our cakes not only look amazing with their intricate details and smooth finishes but taste delicious too! And we are completely GLUTEN FREE!
In 2015 we were inducted into the ABIA Hall of Fame for Wedding Cake Design in South Australia. These latest achievements maintain our proud position of being the most awarded cake shop in Adelaide, as voted by the newlyweds of Australia.

James is the face of our cake shop, State Bakery Manager and Head Cake Designer and Decorator. He has worked at Heidelberg Cakes since it opened in 1991, and is well known in Adelaide by many venues and suppliers. He is a Celiac and the driving force behind the bakery's creation of Gluten Free products that taste amazing!

Heidelberg Cakes was fouinded in 1991. We have made over 60000 cakes in that time and are the most awarded cake shop in Adelaide
We normally say allow 6-9 months' notice. If your wedding is over 12 months away we can provide some samples, but we find design ideas change, guest numbers change and everything becomes clearer around the 6-9 month mark. If your wedding is less than 3 months away please contact us and we may still be available.
Yes. We require cake consultation appointments for quotes and design. If you cannot make it into the store, we can organise a phone consultation. Appointments are available in store from 11am - 3pm Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday from 9:30am - 11:30am. Please phone 83625111 to book in.
We are a completely Gluten Free and Celiac Friendly Bakery! All our cakes and fillings are Gluten Free, as are our cupcakes and croquembouches.
Heidelberg Cakes specialises in smooth and textured buttercream but we also make cakes covered in fondant icing, chocolate shards or semi naked cakes.
Heidelberg Cakes have refrigerated vans for our deliveries. All our cakes are boxed and labeled with the name of the function as well as the number of serves and how the cake is to be stored. We deliver every day except Sunday. For Sunday weddings, we deliver on the Saturday and the cake remains in the refrigerator overnight.
Most of our cakes have fresh or silk flowers that are supplied by the client the day before the wedding.
We only want them in a bunch and we will wire and tape them the morning before delivery of your wedding cake . We also offer silk and sugar flowers. Sugar flowers do tend to work out more expensive as they are priced per bloom. Silk flowers keep well for Sunday functions.
We can offer Gluten and Dairy free cakes for kitchen cakes or cupcakes, but not for display cakes. THis can be chocolate or vanilla with berry puree. We use fresh eggs in all our products.

Get Expert AdviceDo I cut the top tier or bottom tier of my wedding cake?
Hi, I have two questions in one. First of all, when cutting the cake, are we supposed to cut the top tier or the bottom tier? Secondly, which leg should the garter go on?

Definitely the bottom tier first although we have seen many couples cut the top tier, if it is a cupcake tower. Cutting the bottom tier is a lot safer then having the cake topple over and if you are keeping the top tier you do not want a cut in it. As far as the garter goes. I wore mine on my left but I am not sure if there is a right or wrong leg. I think it is personal preference.
