OVERVIEW

As a wedding Celebrant serving the Campbelltown, Camden, Bowral and Southern Highland regions of South and Western Sydney, I look forward to getting to know you and taking the time to hear your ideas and suggestions. If you don't have any idea what you are after, then don't worry I have many ceremony options that you can use or adapt which ever part you like.

Whether it's your first or third marriage, this is your special day and you deserve to have everything you have ever dreamed of. Your dream wedding may be a large traditional wedding, a small home/backyard wedding, a beach wedding, a themed wedding, or an alternative/spiritual wedding.

You may wish to include a rose ceremony, sand ceremony, candle ceremony, or an angel blessing. Or for those who have Scottish, English or Irish backgrounds a traditional Hand-fasting or a shortened version can be added to a more contemporary ceremony. Whatever style of wedding you prefer, we can create a ceremony that makes your day a truly unique and magical experience.

FAQ

I will travel anywhere in Greater Sydney area, as far down as Shoalhaven up to Central Coast. There may be an additional travel fee outside those areas.

I offer a FREE initial no obligation consultation. This can be face-to-face or over the telephone. Once you have chosen me, we then get together and discuss your ceremony. If you are out of town this can be done via email and telephone. I will provide you with a Ceremony Planning Manual. This contains a large number of options for Introductions, Giving Away, Asking, Vows, Ring Ceremonies, and Readings as well as rituals such Sand Ceremonies, Candle Ceremonies etc. I also include your own story to make sure we have a beautiful unique ceremony for you.

You will need to pay a Non Refundable Booking Fee of $200, to save your date at this stage. This can be cash, cheque or Bank transfer. We usually meet again several weeks prior to the Ceremony to go through it, and have a rehearsal of how day will flow. The remainder of my fee is usually paid then if not before.

You certainly can! This is your special day, and apart from a few legal words that need to be said by myself and one line for you and your partner, everything else can be exactly what you want. With the Manual you will get some ideas and either use them or design your own using them a guidelines. You can contact me anytime if you have any questions either by telephone or email. Together we will build a beautiful, unique ceremony for you.

Well you can have live music if you wish, such as Scottish Piper, or Harpist or Singer even. This is entirely your choice. However I also supply a PA System that allows your favourite songs to be played on USB or Music device using AUX cable. I will need at least 3 songs, one for you to "Enter" the ceremony, one for "Signing the Register" and one for "Exiting" to be greeted by your family and friends. Another two or three songs is also a good idea, just for background music whilst the guests are waiting.

If you have already booked your venue and it is outdoors, have a "Plan B" for wet weather. Maybe the venue has an undercover section that you can use. If it is in a park, then check for a suitable undercover venue close by if necessary. However in all the weddings I have performed, I have only once had to go to a "Plan B".

Call me on 02 9190 0114 or email me at maureen@maureenthorpe.com.au to discuss in more detail. Once I know where and when your ceremony is, I can give a quote for your day.

Maureen was the most amazing celebrant we could have asked for on our special day. She provided us with a traditional Scottish ceremony and kept us and our guests well entertained on the day! She was a rockstar with communication pre wedding and made sure we had all of our paperwork sorted and filed properly. Could not recommend more for your wedding day if your after a compassionate and respectful celebrant!

Inclusive with the package I booked through Holroyd Gardens for the civil ceremony. Maureen was understanding and relaxed. She made us very comfortable and didn’t over complicate things. Highly recommended

Maureen is a beautiful person. She tailors your ceremony to suit you so no two ceremonies are the same. She was so professional and made sure my husband and I (as well as my dad) were comfortable and knew what to do during the ceremony process.Thank you!

Should we have signs at our ceremony to leave the front row vacant for immediate family?

I was thinking maybe this is tacky, but then maybe it's necessary. (Or am I really just overthinking it?) Someone suggested that this is the role of the celebrant - to ensure that it's family in the first row. Is that generally true?

Maureen Thorpe

Hi  and congratulations

I find that Guests usually leave the front row free, but talk to your Celebrant and tell them how many seats you need for your families. Count parents and grandparents etc,  as sometimes it is only 2 on either side and there maybe 4 empty seats which never looks good in photos. I usually try to get all seats filled, and say "just remember to leave xx in front row for family members." No need to put reserved but it is not really tacky as sometimes the venues do that anyway. I hope this answers your question.
