I absolutely love being a Marriage Celebrant! I think that to play a part in a couple’s journey together on a day that they will never forget is such an honour that it never ceases to amaze and humble me. Your ceremony is about you, so this is always my focus, but it goes without saying that I bring my own natural style to designing and delivering ceremonies.
To summarise my style in five words, my ceremonies are; personal, laid-back, engaging, fun and unique!
I am most comfortable when officiating a ceremony with a warm, laid-back tone with some light-hearted moments, but balanced with making those key sentimental moments in your ceremony really 'hit' and strike a chord of realisation for all involved that something truly special is happening in that moment!
What sets me apart from most other Celebrants is that I cater for a wide range of couples' needs, from small, intimate elopement ceremonies through to me looking after your whole day as your Celebrant, Reception Emcee and DJ all-in-one! Of course, I also offer packages for everything in between.
An elopement style ceremony is $750, through to 'The Works' Package (Ceremony, Emcee and DJ) for a rate of $2300.
My job is to make this process as easy and painless as possible!
To summarise, the two legal documents that you will complete prior to your wedding are:
1. A Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and
2. A Declaration of No Legal Impediment (DONLI)
The NOIM must be submitted to your Celebrant no less that one month and one day before your wedding date, and is submitted to me as your Celebrant. You will need a form of ID that provides your date and place of birth, and one form of photo ID. A passport ticks both of these boxes. If you are divorced or widowed, a divorce or death certificate are also required to complete the NOIM.
The DONLI is submitted as close to your wedding date as possible, and confirms that there is no legal reason why your marriage can't go ahead.
I support you every step of the way and ensure that your private information is entirely confidential and stored securely.
Often couples ask me this question for the purposes of planning the timeline of their day.
Typically a full ceremony will last approximately 20 minutes, however this obviously varies depending on added inclusions to your ceremony. Popular inclusions may include readings by special loved ones, meaningful rituals or personal vows.
I pride myself on making each ceremony unique, so I don't put time limits on your special day!
Yes! A part of what I love about being a Celebrant is having the opportunity to travel to and experience amazing venues around New South Wales and beyond. But good grief, those fuel prices these days!
I charge a travel fee of $1.00 per kilometre after 50km from my home address. For example, if your ceremony location is 100km from my house, my travel fee would be $50.
When quoting your wedding package, I am always clear and transparent in this process.
The months of September through to February are the busiest times for Celebrants making bookings. Generally, notice of anywhere between 6 - 12 months in advance would be recommended but don't let this put you off! It's worth contacting me to see if your date is free!
I have a background in teaching in the lower-socioeconomic areas of Western Sydney over the course of almost 20 years, so this should tell you that I am INCREDIBLY flexible! Unexpected situations and changes are the norm, and I am extremely skilled in adapting and adjusting to all scenarios that may occur. Importantly, I am very calm and accommodating so any time that changes or different circumstances arise, they are solved quickly, efficiently and stress-free all round.
Absolutely! I am great at connecting with couples and getting to know you quickly, which guides me for giving tips or making suggestions that will make your ceremony unique and tailored specifically to your personalities, values and your special relationship.
Based on my experience, I have created a 'Vow Writing Guide' that will help give you prompts to construct those special words for your partner on your big day. Feedback from couples has let me know that this resource has been incredibly helpful!
The certificate you sign and receive on the day of your wedding is not sufficient as legal proof of your marriage. If you wish to provide legal proof of your marriage for purposes such as a name-change, an Official Certificate of Marriage from Births Deaths and Marriages is required.
I am able to order one on your behalf when I register your marriage to save you the stress! Births, Deaths and Marriages charge me a fee of $67.00 for this, so I just ask that you cover this for me. Your certificate will be delivered via Registered Post usually within a week of registration.
Yes! I can even provide and manage playing music throughout your ceremony if you wish.
Yes! Marriage is for everyone and I have absolutely loved working with diverse range of couples!
My total focus is performing my duties as your Celebrant, Emcee, DJ or any combination of these services to the best of my ability! As a consequence, capturing myself on video is the furthest thing from my mind for the most part. Not a great marketing strategy on my part to be honest! However, the best promotion that I can get is a great review from you after I provide the excellent services that I have become known for.
