Hi, it's so lovely to see you are reading my blog about me, but this is where 'about me' stops. I am a full believer in playing a background role on your wedding day. This special day is all about you both as a couple. I would like to highlight this day for you, make it very special and a memorable one for the rest of your lives. FAQ

Is there any other way to describe my partner other than husband and wife at our wedding?

Yes, there are lots, try these for size,

loved one, spouse, soulmate, significant other, better half, best friend, beloved, lover, side kick, partner in crime, or a particular pet name you have, or their actual name.

In Australia, the only time you need to use husband/wife/spouse is during the legal vows. The remainder of the ceremony can be as creative as you like!

Would it be possible for me as a non Australian, living overseas to get married in Australia? Is it a tough process?

The simple answer is yes and no!!

It is possible to marry in Australia as a non Australian citizen, and no, it is not a tough process!

To put simply, once you find a celebrant that you are happy with, they will guide you all the way.

They will send you a NOIM (Notice of Intended Marry), once you fill it in, you must get a Notary of Public to witness you signing the document. The day you send this to your celebrant, this begins the one month notice (no more than 18 months) you must give your celebrant by law.
Your celebrant will then lodge this notice to the Department of Births, Deaths and marriages in Australia.
Speak with your celebrant via video chat, and work out wedding plans together. The celebrant will have a world of knowledge to assist you.
You will require 2 witnesses over the age of 18 to witness your ceremony.
You must sign a document (DONLIM) to verify you are legal to get married before your ceremony. This document will state you are over 18yrs, you are not related to your partner and you are not married to another already. Your celebrant will organise this.
the marrying couple must produce photo ID (?passport) before the ceremony, to verify this is you

Mary is the celebrant for you if you want someone who engages your guests from start to finish but isn’t the star of the ceremony. She tailored our ceremony to our wants and really listened to our vision for the day. With many years in the industry you can tell she just knows what works, and what doesn’t and she was such a delight to liaise with in the lead up to the big day. We actually had to have many FaceTime meetings as we were travelling and she was so accomodating and warm.. it felt like we had known each other for years. Our ceremony was full of lots of laugh, lots of tears and lots of compliments from our guests who described her as warm and sincere, and we couldn’t agree more.
