Coming from a background in Theatre, I know how important a rehearsal is. Usually, a day or two before the ceremony we will do a full ‘walkthrough’. It’s the way to make everyone involved feel super comfortable on the day.
I love a destination wedding! Bali is easily the top spot for WA couples. While the legal paperwork must be completed in Australia either before or after your trip, we can still create a breathtaking beach or Ubud wedding with all the trimmings.
Oh yes! I bring top-of-the-line gear—a Bose S1 sound system and Sennheiser wireless mic setup. We can use a tablet or phone for music via Bluetooth, and it easily syncs up for the most discerning videographers.
That’s entirely up to you! It depends on how much storytelling you’d like, whether you’ll include readings, or if Uncle Marty is planning a bagpipe recital! Typically, ceremonies last between 15 and 30 minutes.

My friend got married recently but she felt like she was pressured by the groom's family as everything happened in just a day. The celebrant filled the NOIM form, did the vows and gave the couple a marriage certificate, all on the same day. Is it even legal? Don't you need atleast a month gap between the NOIM lodgement and wedding day? Marriage has not been registered yet so she wants to cancel her wedding. Is there any way?

You're absolutely right—Australian marriage law requires that the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) be lodged at least one month before the wedding ceremony takes place (unless an official shortening of time was granted under special circumstances).
If the NOIM was filled out and the ceremony conducted on the same day, without a special shortening of time granted by an authorised authority, then the marriage was not legally valid. The celebrant may have acted unlawfully, and your friend should report this to the Attorney-General’s Department or the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages (BDM) in their state.
If the marriage has not been registered yet, she may not need a formal annulment or divorce. Since the legal process was not followed correctly, it’s possible that the marriage is not legally binding in the first place.
Next steps would be to contact the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages and confirm whether the marriage has been registered. If not, she can inform them of the situation and request that it not be processed.
Report the Celebrant. If the celebrant broke the law, they can be reported to the Attorney-General’s Department for misconduct.

What are the logistics of having a friend be your celebrant, whilst getting an official celebrant to organise the legal side of things? We want to do the legals on the day so we don't have to get officially married before/after our wedding day. Is this a service that many celebrants offer? Ideally also with guidance for the friend who has never done this before

Yes, you can have a friend act as your celebrant for the ceremony while an official celebrant (like me!) takes care of the legal side of things. This is a great way to have a deeply personal and meaningful ceremony while ensuring everything is legally sound.
Yes! Many couples love the idea of being married by a close friend or family member while still ensuring all the legalities are handled properly. Not all celebrants offer this service, but I do because I think it’s such a fantastic way to make a wedding truly personal and unique! Since your friend may not have done this before, I offer a special package that includes guidance, tips, and even a fully customised script to help them feel confident and make your ceremony unforgettable.
