When I decided to become a wedding celebrant, I didn’t just stumble into the role. It began with a deep belief in the power of love, connection, and storytelling. It was a purposeful journey fueled by my love for bringing people together and a desire to channel my natural talents into a profession that celebrates love, connection, and community and create something meaningful for couples embarking on one of the most important chapters of their lives.

The spark: Why I Chose to Be a Celebrant

From the outside, the wedding industry might seem all about the flowers, dresses, and décor. But to me, it’s always been about the story—the journey that two people have shared and the promises they’re making for the future.

I’ve always been drawn to human connection and the magic that happens when love is celebrated. Being a celebrant means standing at the intersection of love and storytelling. Every time I officiate a ceremony, I’m reminded of why I chose this path—to honour love in all its forms and to help couples mark the beginning of their married lives with a ceremony that feels authentic and unforgettable.

Hi, I’m Sally Wood—a marriage celebrant who puts love at the heart of everything I do. 

With a background in English teaching and wellbeing, I have a real appreciation for the power of words and the way they connect us. I believe every couple has a unique story, and I’m passionate about creating ceremonies that reflect each journey—filled with warmth, humour, and sincerity.

I’ve been married for over 21 years and am a proud mum to three amazing daughters, so I deeply understand the beauty and strength of lifelong love. I enjoy relaxing at the beach, reading, hanging out with family and cooking and gardening. 

My strengths—kindness, humour, and a genuine zest for life—help me bring people together in meaningful ways. I love a good celebration, and I bring my enthusiasm, attention to detail, and people-first approach to every ceremony I create.
