Get Expert AdviceHelp! I need vows help, I honestly have no idea what to say! I love her. What else should I say?
I asked my friends and they said it'd come to me. It hasn't. I am freaking out!!!
Love Bird Ceremonies
Ok, Melissa, you love your partner so that is a fabulous starting point! Now ask yourself 'why'? What are the special little things they do that make you smile? What are the funny things they do that make you laugh? What is it that gives you that incredible feeling of pride to have them by your side? What turns you on about them? What do you want to promise them? Maybe there is something that you do that drives them crazy, maybe you could promise to put more effort into not doing that? After you make your first draft hide it away for a while and then pull it out and have another look, you might want to add or subtract from it :) It is also a good idea to agree with your partner how much funny stuff and how much serious stuff you want to include in your vows - 60%/40% for example - just so one of you doesn't do all funny and the other all serious :! I hope this helps a little and wish you both all the very best for your future together, Delwyn x
How do I convince my fiancé to elope?
My finance has a huge family so our wedding is going to be too expensive. I only have a small family so my guests will be out numbered. I think weddings are more about pleasing others and the meaning gets lost. I want it to be a special moment for just him and I, without the expensive price tag. I want to elope but he wants the huge traditional wedding. What do we do?
Love Bird Ceremonies
Hi Daniella! I agree with you, quite often the meaning can get lost in all the stress and 'pleasing of other people' with a big wedding. It's usually the grooms that want to elope and they want to know how to convince their brides to agree to it :) It sounds like he is worried he will disappoint family members if you don't have the BIG wedding. My hairdresser recently told me of an amazing wedding that he was at where his niece got married and all the guests paid for their own meals and drinks - it was in a fabulous big pub with BBQ and a-la-carte so something for everyone. It meant everyone could come and drink and eat as little or as much as they liked and there was no financial pressure on the bride and groom. The bride and groom paid for the DJ. He said everyone understood and totally agreed and enjoyed themselves. It might be an option for you? Otherwise, would your fiance agree to eloping (dont forget the photographer/videographer or they will be REALLY upset) and then having a big, laid-back party to celebrate later? Having a big debt to pay off is not a great way to begin a marriage, especially as seems to take such a long time until it's repaid... and you may need money for other things, like starting a family :) Unfortunately, financial worries and arguments are the biggest killers of relationships. Perhaps if you show him how much you could save with one of these options and what you could do with that saved money, you might convince him :) Very best of luck and warmest wishes, Delwyn
I need a suggestion for a special poem or reading
I am getting married next year on Remembrance Day and I would like a few words or a short poem commemorating mine and my fiance's grandparents. We would love to acknowledge their vintage weddings and we are having a vintage-themed wedding for this reason. There will also be two Veterans present at our wedding so I’d love a reading or poem that would appropriately honour them too.

When I was thrown to grasp the skies
And ran along to catch the flies
there was a peace in my mind
because I always had my grandparents around.
My grandma would sit and read me stories
And grandpa carried me on his shoulders
But there is nothing but a huge void
And still something that makes me bolder.
And that is love and faith
that they instilled in me
which I hold it closer to my heart
than anything in the world
Times are passing
and they are long passed away
but the memories remain fresh
and making me smile every day.

I would introduce this poem with a few words of respect and gratitude to all of those who have influenced our lives and have at times risked their own safety to provide us with a safe and caring environment to develop in. Wishing you all the best Jordyn for your wedding day :) Delwyn
